THE DREAM
The Pristina Marathon is a city marathon held in Kosovo’s capital, Pristina, using the square in front of the National Theatre as the start line and finish.
It is divided into four distances—full marathon (42 km), half marathon (21 km), 10 km,
and 5 km—and has traditionally been organised each September by the Kosovo Athletics Federation.
The 2024 edition, the 23rd, attracted more than 1,000 participants and is regarded as Kosovo’s longest-running road race.
The course runs through the city centre, combining the race with urban views.
Picture the course in advance
and find the pace that fits you.
Streets lined with cheers, runners all around.
You'll be part of that scene.
Take it slow with the finish still in you,
and meet the city all over again.
From the joy of finishing to the tough moments — read what runners wrote themselves.
“The forecast said it would be hot… very hot. And it was mostly right.”
At the Prishtina Marathon, the runner finished despite heat and a long late climb. The friendly organizers earned praise, though early water provision and the surroundings of the course left room for improvement.

No metro/train system in Pristina; nearest hub is Pristina's central bus station, roughly 1.5 km away, plus city 'Trafiku Urban' bus lines serving downtown
Start and finish are both at the National Theatre of Prishtina, in the city center. A prior (2025) edition was confirmed for Sept 28, but this is expected annual date drift.
Same as start (National Theatre of Prishtina, city center)
Central downtown location, walkable from most city hotels; no rail transit exists in Kosovo's capital.
Pristina's city buses are cash-only with no rechargeable transit card. A single ride costs about 0.40-0.50 EUR paid directly to the driver, so keep small euro coins or notes on hand, and contactless bank cards are not accepted on board.
The airport bus into the city costs about 3 EUR.
Your start time, fuel and bag drop.
Know them ahead and the run feels easier.
In late September, when the race takes place,
Pristina sits in a transitional continental climate: the midsummer heat has eased, and mornings and evenings are becoming cooler.
The annual average temperature is around 11°C, while the July average rises to nearly 22°C;
temperatures fall as autumn begins, creating relatively comfortable conditions for a 9:00 a.m. start.
Course uses the National Theatre as its start line and finish and follows a route through the city centre,
making it easy to reach by public transport and from nearby accommodation.
Distance markers appear every 2 km, and aid station stations are positioned every 3.5–4 km, making it easier to plan pace management and hydration.
Medical stations and ambulances are positioned at several points along the course.
Times are local to Pristina. Check the latest official information before the race.
