In 1990, the LLC Marathon Regensburg e.V. organized the Regensburg Marathon for the first time. Since then it has taken place every year on the weekend after Ascension Day. The route is flat and fast and mostly runs through the beautiful old town of Regensburg, which has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2006.
