THE DREAM

About Rio 10km Run — what makes it special

ABOUT THE RACE

A day you'll remember,
long past the finish line.

This is the 10km event of the Rio Marathon series held in early June.

5km, half marathon, and full marathon also run together.

The road to your own record

Picture the course in advance
and find the pace that fits you.

When the city cheers

Streets lined with cheers, runners all around.
You'll be part of that scene.

The trip that follows the run

Take it slow with the finish still in you,
and meet the city all over again.

Race reports: 1
Blog de CorridaRan in 2025
“The days spent with my family were truly wonderful and blessed!”

After failing to get a place in the half marathon wanted at the 2025 Rio event, the runner entered the 10K instead. The runner looks back fondly on the time spent with the family.

More details

Getting to the start

Metro Catete (MetroRio, Linha 1), exit and walk down Rua Silveira Martins toward the Aterro do Flamengo

Start at Aterro do Flamengo, level of Bar do Zeca Pagodinho (Praia do Flamengo, 20). Bib gives free MetroRio access -- confirm operating hours since early waves may start before normal opening (MetroRio has opened as early as 4am for past editions).

Arrive 40+ min before your wave. Course detail per the 2025-2026 10K Athlete Guides -- start/finish and Catete metro access consistent across recent editions.

Note: in 2026 the 10K ran on the festival's Friday (not the main Sunday marathon day) -- a similar Friday slot is plausible for 2027 but unconfirmed. No dedicated shuttle; free MetroRio for bib holders is the recommended access.

Getting to the finish

Metro Catete (same station serves the finish)

Finish at Aterro do Flamengo, level of Monumento aos Pracinhas, short walk from start along the same park. Bag check 5:15am-9:45am at 'No Bosque'.

IC card

RioCard / Bilhete Único

Metro stations (e.g. Carioca, Jardim Oceânico) or dedicated RioCard kiosks

Works directly at the gates The metro and the large majority of municipal buses now accept contactless bank cards directly at the gate/reader.

Some older buses or vans still require a physical RioCard/Bilhete Único, or payment via Pix QR code (Brazil's local instant-payment system, not usable by most foreign cards), so carry a little cash as backup off the main tourist routes.

READY TO RUN

From race morning to after the finish.

Your start time, fuel and bag drop.
Know them ahead and the run feels easier.

Unlike the 21K and 42K races, which use a lottery entry system for 2026, the 5K and 10K races are sold via direct,

first-come first-served sale opening to the general public on January 28, 2026.

Times are local to Rio de Janeiro. Check the latest official information before the race.
