The road to your own record
Picture the course in advance
and find the pace that fits you.

The city you want to run becomes your next trip.

THE DREAM
A 21K, 10K, and 5K road race along the Rio de Janeiro coast.
Starting from Sacopã/Leblon (at the intersection of Delfim Moreira Boulevard and Borges de Medeiros Boulevard),
the course passes through Copacabana and Ipanema, finishing at Flamengo Beach Park.
Picture the course in advance
and find the pace that fits you.
Streets lined with cheers, runners all around.
You'll be part of that scene.
Take it slow with the finish still in you,
and meet the city all over again.
From the joy of finishing to the tough moments — read what runners wrote themselves.
“As I always say, the Rio half marathon isn't just a race — it's a festival!”
Aline took part in the 2023 Rio half marathon and ran at a relaxed pace with a friend. She found the scenery and support along the beach, through the mountains, and across the city especially memorable, although the hot weather, headwind, crowded aid stations, and congestion from the large field were disappointing. She also said the expo had plenty to see, but collecting the race kit could mean a long wait.

Elani Figueiredo endured knee pain from 18 km mark in her first half marathon and completed the Rio beachfront course in 2 hours 40 minutes.

Eu não vim de tão longe pra desistir!
Read the original on Viajar Correndo“I finished in 2 hours and 7 minutes. It was 1 minute slower than the time I wanted, but it was within my goal of improving on 2 hours and 11 minutes.”
Yara Achôa ran the 2014 Rio Half Marathon while managing lingering cold symptoms, humid weather, and blisters on her feet. She picked up her pace with a friend at the 19K mark and finished in 2:07, improving on her previous time of 2:11.

Cide completed his first 21 km at the Rio de Janeiro International half marathon and enjoyed the seaside scenery and race organization. Losing focus made the latter stages difficult, but he refocused over the final 3 km to finish in 2 hours 29 minutes 44 seconds.

Estação Antero de Quental (Metrô Rio) — sair e seguir a pé pela Av. Bartolomeu Mitre até a Av. Delfim Moreira, Leblon
Start at 5:30 AM on Av. Delfim Moreira, Leblon.
Metro had special early-opening operation on race day (normally opens 7 AM Sundays). For rideshare, use Av.
Bartolomeu Mitre as reference. Regular buses stop on Av.
Delfim Moreira between Rua João Lira and Av. Bartolomeu Mitre.
Estação Glória (Metrô Rio) — near Aterro do Flamengo, confirm special metro opening hours on race day
Finish at Aterro do Flamengo near the Monumento aos Pracinhas. Organizer explicitly warns: NO parking at Marina da Glória/event area — public transit strongly recommended.
No dedicated official shuttle; regular bus lines stop on Av.
RioCard / Bilhete Único
Metro stations (e.g. Carioca, Jardim Oceânico) or dedicated RioCard kiosks
Works directly at the gates The metro and the large majority of municipal buses now accept contactless bank cards directly at the gate/reader.
Some older buses or vans still require a physical RioCard/Bilhete Único, or payment via Pix QR code (Brazil's local instant-payment system, not usable by most foreign cards), so carry a little cash as backup off the main tourist routes. Rio's MetroRio and most buses now accept contactless bank card tap at the gates in addition to the rechargeable Jaé card, sold at metro station kiosks for a small card fee plus about 5 BRL per ride.
Because this half marathon starts before the Sunday metro opens, foreign visitors staying outside the nearby beach neighborhoods should plan on a taxi or Uber to reach the start.
