Race reports: 3
TheBeardedMarathonerRan in 2025
“I think this race is beautiful.”

TheBeardedMarathoner took part in the 2025 Rocket City Marathon. Despite the very cold weather, they said an indoor finish area, thermal blankets, and hot food were provided, and the expo and race information were well organized. The course through Huntsville's neighborhoods, the space center, and Galaxy of Lights was impressive, and they also praised the volunteers and police at major intersections. They added that some aid stations ran short on supplies.

Dave MungerRan in 2012 · Finish time 3:39:09
“The plan was simply to finish.”

Dave Munger found it difficult to maintain his early target pace in 62°F weather with 93% humidity and a headwind. He took walking breaks after 14 miles, changed his goal to simply finishing, and finished in 3 hours 39 minutes and 9 seconds.

Jim (50 after40)Ran in 2011 · Finish time 3:38:06
“All-in-all, the Rocket City Marathon is a good race that I would run again if I lived closer.”

Jim ran a flat marathon, but at the 15-mile mark had a close encounter with a course vehicle, and Jim's pace dropped sharply after 20 miles. Jim ran the final 2 miles with another runner and finished in 3 hours 38 minutes and 6 seconds.
