Hills at the Tacoma City Marathon caused ankle and abdominal pain, slowing the runner late on. A resurgence on the final descent caught the 4-hour pacer and secured the target time.

Getting to the start

Sounder/Link light rail hub at Tacoma Dome Station is the nearest major transit hub, but it is several miles from the actual start near the Tacoma Narrows Bridge; no direct station at the start line

The Marathon/Half/Relay start near the Narrows Bridge on the west side of Tacoma. Limited parking at the start, most runners drive or use the organizer shuttle.

Finish is at Dune Peninsula Park, Point Ruston, in downtown Tacoma; well served by Tacoma Link light rail and Pierce Transit buses.

Organizer-run shuttle buses run throughout race day between the start area and the airport, catchable at the Tacoma Art Museum near the finish/downtown area.

The event spans two days, with the 'Ghost of Tacoma' held on Saturday and the main race on Sunday.

The Ghost of Tacoma Marathon·half marathon is reported to start at 9:00 AM.

For the 5K·10K·Ghost events, bib can be collected on-site from 6:45 to 7:45 AM on race day,

and same-day registration is available until 30 minutes before each event's start.

The main Marathon·half marathon is a point-to-point course that crosses the Narrows Bridge and finishes at Dune Peninsula Park,

while half marathon starts and finishes at Point Ruston Village.

Entry fee was $70-$85 for the Marathon·half marathon based on the previous year, with early-bird discounts applied depending on when you registered.
