It then descends into a pine-shaded canyon before passing through a rocky, technical section and opening up to sweeping views.

The fields are divided into 6 divisions: 50K, Marathon, 30K, 1/2 Marathon.
Start line is in Colorado Springs, CO, and the start time is 7:00 a.m. local time.

No direct train/subway/bus service to venue
Race starts/finishes at Cheyenne Mountain State Park (410 JL Ranch Heights, Colorado Springs), a state park south of the city. Mountain Metro Transit (Colorado Springs city bus system) operates ~34 routes citywide but no route was found serving the park entrance directly; nearest city bus routes are several miles away in south Colorado Springs.
Runners are expected to drive/rideshare; a state park entrance fee/parking pass applies. Rural/park venue with no meaningful public transit access; car is the practical option.

Finish is at the same park trailhead/day-use area as the start.

The Valkyrie Trail Race is hosted by Mad Moose Events and takes place at Cheyenne Mountain State Park in Colorado Springs.
With six events ranging from 4 miles and 8 miles to half marathon, 30K, Marathon, and 50K, runners can choose a distance to match their fitness level.
Start times vary by event: the Marathon and 50K start at 7:00 a.m., the 30K and half marathon at 7:30 a.m., and the 8-mile and 4-mile events at 8:00 a.m.
BIBs can be picked up in advance at the Colorado Running Company from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, the day before the race.
Alternatively, runners can collect them at start line from 6:15 to 7:55 a.m. on race day by presenting identification.
Entry fee includes the state park entry fee, and finishers receive a commemorative T-shirt and finisher medal.
The race is cupless, so runners must bring their own reusable cup.
A Mad Moose hydration pack can also be purchased during registration.
Aid stations are positioned throughout course, including at the start and finish areas.
