The Van Cortlandt Park 50k, launched in 2023.

It's designed to let first-time ultra runners finish safely while still giving experienced runners a shot at a fast time.

Runners complete one flat lap, then ten laps of a cross-country course.

There are some rocks and tree roots, but not many.

Getting to the start

Van Cortlandt Park-242nd Street (1 train, IRT Broadway-7th Ave line)

This is the northern terminus of the 1 train, at Broadway and 242nd St, directly adjacent to Van Cortlandt Park (6087 Broadway, Bronx). Also served by Bx9, Bx3, Bx34, and BxM3 buses.

Start/finish is at the park's cross-country course near the parade ground, a short walk from the station. Well-served by subway — no car needed.
