ABOUT THE RACE

A day you'll remember,

This full- and half marathon marathon starts at Yongning Gate on Xi’an’s south wall,

passes the Bell Tower and city-wall section, and finish at Xi’an Olympic Sports Centre Stadium.

It is an course linking Xi’an’s past and present, from the fortifications of the ancient capital to the modern new city centre.

（一）Marathon (42.195 kilometres) course: eastern access road at the south plaza of Yongning Gate (start) → South Street → Bell Tower roundabout → East Street → East Gate roundabout → northern section of Ring Road East → Chaoyang Gate underpass → northern section of Ring Road East → Taihua South Road → Taihua North Road → Yongshun Road → Yongshun East Road → Yujing Road → Yonglong Road → Chanba 3rd Road → Guangyuntan Avenue → Eurasia Avenue → Bahe East Road → auxiliary road on the north side of East 3rd Ring Road → Huizhan 1st Road → Eurasia Avenue → Bahe East Road → Shangshan Lane → turnaround at the end of Shangshan Lane → Shangshan Lane → turnaround south of the Bahe East Road–Hedi Road intersection → Bahe East Road → road south of the west plaza of Xi'an Olympic Sports Centre → Xi'an Olympic Sports Centre Stadium (finish)

Collection information for the Xi'an Marathon (start: south square of Yongningmen; finish: Xi'an Olympic Sports Center) has not yet been announced.
Collection reservations open through WeChat announcements, and, as is customary for major Chinese races, require personal ID and a reserved time slot.

Getting to the start

Yongningmen South Square east roundabout — right outside Xi'an Metro Line 2, Yongningmen Station

Metro Line 2 is explicitly recommended;

trains run earlier than usual on race day.

Arrive 40-60 minutes before the 7:30 AM gun.

Getting to the finish

Full marathon finishes at Xi'an Olympic Sports Center Stadium (Metro Line 3 Shuangzhai Station, or Line 14 Olympic Sports Center Station); half marathon finishes at the Xi'an International Convention & Exhibition Center (Metro Line 3 Xianghuwan Station)

If being picked up after finishing,

meet family/friends outside the traffic-control zone near a metro station or shopping mall rather than right at the finish gate.

No dedicated event shuttle mentioned.

City guidance strongly recommends the metro, since roads around the course citywide are closed to vehicles on race day.

The Xi'an Marathon is usually held in October.

Xi'an lies on the boundary between humid subtropical and humid continental climates, with hot, humid summers and cold, dry winters.

Rainfall is concentrated from July through late October.

October brings average highs of 19.3°C and lows of 9.8°C—generally comfortable autumn conditions for a marathon.

Average rainfall that month is 66.6mm, however, so runners should prepare for wet weather.
