From the joy of finishing to the tough moments — read what runners wrote themselves.
“Changsha was cloudy today, so the sunlight wasn’t particularly bright, but the temperature was quite suitable for running.”
A Changsha participant documented a marathon trip that included collecting their bib on Friday, travelling by subway, and visiting family.

今天长沙的天气属于多云,虽然不是阳光明媚,但这种温度还挺适合跑步的。
Read the original on 罗磊的独立博客“I’m very happy to have completed the marathon at 4:31:58, twenty minutes faster than my previous fastest time.”The writer ran the first half conservatively, picked up the pace in the second half, and finished in 4 hours 31 minutes 58 seconds personal best despite suffering cramps at around 29 km.
“This year, I completed the race smoothly, finishing 14 minutes earlier than last year, which is progress.”The writer recalled suffering leg cramps during the final 5 km of the 2017 Changsha Half Marathon and barely finishing, then improving by 14 minutes in the following edition.

RACE WEEK
Know the course and time limit, and race day comes into focus.
From the 2025 edition6 hours (based on full marathon, calculated from the starting gunshot)
The Changsha Marathon is a city marathon in Changsha, Hunan Province, first held on October 18, 2015 and run every fall since.
It started as a Chinese Athletics Association-certified race, then received an IAAF Bronze Label in 2019 and a World Athletics Silver Label in March 2020.
It wasn't held in 2020 and 2021 because of COVID-19.
The 2026 race starts at 7 a.m. on Sunday, November 15, with 35,000 runners in total: 18,000 in the marathon and 17,000 in the half marathon.
More than 190,000 people applied, so spots were decided by lottery;
the marathon was open to ages 20 and over and the half marathon to 18 and over.
Both races start next to Du Fu Pavilion on Xiangjiang Middle Road.
The route heads north along Xiangjiang Road, turns near Yinpenling Bridge,
then crosses Juzizhou Bridge onto Orange Isle (Juzizhou), the river island that's a symbol of Changsha, and loops around it.
Leaving the island on the west side, it runs via Fenglin 1st Road,
Aimin Road and Gongshang Road onto Xiaoxiang Middle Road, where half marathon runners reach the finish at Yurenmatou.
Marathon runners continue south along Xiaoxiang Middle Road through the Yanghu area,
cross the Xiang River on the Xiangfu Road Bridge and return to Xiangjiang Middle Road.
They then run north along Baisha Road and Shuyuan Road, past the old First Normal School campus,
and via Laodong Road and Tianjian Road to finish at the south plaza of Helong Stadium.
From the tip of Orange Isle to Yuelu Mountain, Yanghu Wetland and the First Normal School,
one course takes in Changsha's riverside scenery and modern historical sites one after another.
Pick up your bib, check your wave.
So on race morning, you can just run.
Based on the 2025 edition, participants must book a collection time online in advance, then bring the original ID to the designated venue to collect the bib, timing chip and race shirt.
Proxy collection is not permitted.
The specific venue and date will be announced shortly before the race on the official website and WeChat official account.
Link your foreign Visa/Mastercard to Alipay (or WeChat Pay) and use its in-app transit QR code to ride the metro — this is currently the most reliable way for foreign visitors, since Changsha hasn't been confirmed to support tap-and-ride with a foreign contactless bank card the way Shanghai, Guangzhou and Chengdu now do.

As of this check (~3 months before race day), the official Packet Pickup Guidelines page displays only a Coming Soon placeholder.
No page for road closures, metro, or shuttle bus exists yet for 2026.
In prior years, traffic-control notices were only published 1-2 weeks before race day via local media/traffic police, not the marathon site itself.

Single-ride tickets cost roughly CNY 2-6 depending on distance and can be bought in cash or via QR code at station vending machines (English interface available).
No verified source confirms direct foreign-bank-card tap-to-ride for Changsha yet —
Alipay's transit QR feature linked to a foreign card is the most dependable fallback.
Your start time, fuel and bag drop.
Know them ahead and the run feels easier.
The 2026 race starts at 7 a.m. on Sunday, November 15 on Xiangjiang Middle Road next to Du Fu Pavilion.
The marathon finishes at the south plaza of Helong Stadium and the half marathon at Yurenmatou.
There are cutoffs along the course, and once a cutoff passes, the timing mats at that point stop working.
Times are local to Changsha. Check the latest official information before the race.
