Angkor Wat Half Marathon: $70 for ForeignersโWhat Do Locals Pay?
The standard fee for the Angkor Wat Half Marathon is $70 for foreigners and $36 for Cambodians. Registration for the 2026 race closes October 23, and the safe move is to finish paying before 5 p.m. Cambodia time.
The fee table on the Angkor Wat International Half Marathon registration page splits twice: once into early bird and standard, and again into foreigners and Cambodians. The standard half marathon fee is $70 for foreigners and $36 for Cambodians.
It's the same 21.1 kilometers, leaving from the same spot in front of Angkor Wat at the same 5:45 a.m.
start, yet one price is nearly double the other. Standard registration closes October 23, 2026.
The page lists two deadline times side by side: 11:59 p.m.
and 5 p.m.
Cambodia time. There's no on-site or race-day registration, so miss that cutoff and you won't be on the start line in Siem Reap on Sunday, December 6, for the 2026 race.
Read the table again before you hit the payment button and two things stand out: the distance where foreigners are penalized least, and the money hiding outside that $70.
1Angkor Wat Half Marathon Fees: How Many Times More Do Foreigners Pay at Each Distance?

Here are the standard fees for all four events. The half is $70 for foreigners and $36 for Cambodians; the 10K is $55 and $25; the 5K is $45 and $20; and the 3K fun run is $35 and $12. Early-bird entries, which closed June 30, were $10 cheaper at every distance.
In the half, foreigners pay 1.9 times what Cambodians pay. That rises to 2.2 times in the 10K, 2.25 times in the 5K, and 2.9 times in the 3K fun runโthe shorter the race, the bigger the foreigner surcharge. In dollar terms, the half has the widest gap at $34, but by multiplier it's the lowest row on the table.
A foreigner planning to sign up for the 3K with family would be choosing the highest multiplier on the list. At least three in four runners on the start line race on a $36 entry. The Cambodian outlet Cambodianess reported that the 2025 race, the event's 30th anniversary, drew about 10,000 local runners and just over 3,000 from abroad.
According to the organizers' event page, the race supports prosthetics and social reintegration for landmine survivors, education and disease prevention in Cambodia, and Angkor Hospital for Children and Kantha Bopha Children's Hospital.

2Two Ways to Pay: $70 or โฌ67

There are two places to register. One is the entry page on Checkpointspot, the local registration site, and it's the source of the dollar prices in the table above. The organizers' event page notes that these fees don't include a 7 percent processing fee or VAT.
For the half, the processing fee alone adds $4.90. The other is World's Marathons, the international registration site linked for overseas runners, which takes euros: โฌ67 for the half, โฌ54 for the 10K, โฌ40 for the 5K, and โฌ31 for the 3K. As of October 22, 2026, this site lists the half's start at 5:50 a.
m., while the Checkpointspot entry page says 5:45 a.m.
Which is cheaper? That comes down to the exchange rate on the day you pay and your card. If your card takes a smaller cut on dollar payments, go with Checkpointspot; if euros work out better, World's Marathons wins.
Just don't make the mistake of paying on both. Neither offers refunds.
3What Your $70 Packet Includesโand the $37 It Doesn't

Bib pickup runs December 3โ5 at Angkor Century Resort and Spa in Siem Reap. Bibs aren't handed out on race day, and if someone else is collecting for you, they'll need a pickup authorization form and a letter of authorization signed by you, plus a copy of their own ID. Half marathoners pull a race T-shirt and a timing chip out of the packet; finishers also get a finisher's T-shirt, a medal, and an electronic result.
The 10K has no finisher's T-shirt, and the 5K and 3K come with an e-certificate instead of a timing chip. There's no temple in the packet. The ID pass that comes with it lets you into the Angkor area December 3โ5 to preview the course, but it won't get you inside Angkor Wat.
The same goes for race day. A runner from the blog Miles Less Traveled, who ran the 2017 race, described the day this way: "We stopped more than we could count because of all of the incredible temple views." But with a bib on, the places you can stop go only as far as the road beside the temples.
Getting inside the temples takes a separate ticket: a $37 one-day pass, bought at an Apsara Authority checkpoint. That's why an Angkor Wat half that includes the temples themselves costs at least $107, even before the processing fee.
4The Deadline Is October 23โat 11:59 p.m. and 5 p.m.

The deadline notice on the registration page puts two times in a single line: "23-October, 2026 at 23:59pm" and "5:00pm time in Cambodia." There's no explanation of which one applies. Finish paying before 5 p.
m. on October 23, Cambodia time (UTC+7), and you'll satisfy both. After the deadline, there's no way in.
Fees aren't refunded and can't be transferred to another runner or to next year. You can, however, switch distances. It costs a $20 administrative fee; move to a pricier event and you pay the difference, drop to a cheaper one and you don't get the difference back.
Even on that change, the instructions disagree: the English version says "before the deadline," while the Khmer version says only on the day you receive your registration receipt. If you're torn between the half and the 10K, this rule is effectively your bill. Register for the 10K and upgrade to the half, and you'll pay the $20 fee plus a $15 differenceโ$35 in all.
Go the other way and it's the $20 fee plus $15 you won't get back. Whichever way you switch, it costs more than picking right the first time.
5Off at 5:45 a.m., Before Sunrise, With 4 Hours to Finish

The half leaves from the front of Angkor Wat at 5:45 a.m., before sunrise, and follows a flat route past about 14 ancient temples.
The average December temperature in Siem Reap is 26ยฐC, and water and electrolyte drinks are available every 2 kilometers. Kilometer markers line the right side of the road at 1-kilometer intervals, and some aid stations even have bananas. With a 5:45 a.
m. start, what time should you leave your hotel? The registration page says to arrive at the start area in front of Angkor Wat at least 30 minutes before the gun, while the organizers' event page asks runners to be there by 4:30 a.
m. for the 5 a.m.
opening ceremony. There's no public transportation to the venue, so book a tuk-tuk or taxi for the predawn ride the day before. Race reports from people who've run this course rarely talk about time.
The writer behind the blog The Bull Runner, who crossed the finish line in 2:28 in 2012, made a decision before the start: "I allowed myself to enjoy the entire experience without focus on time." The 4-hour cutoff makes room for that kind of run. Even a pace of a little over 11 minutes per kilometer gets you to the finish, so if you stop for photos along the way, the course is still open until 9:45 a.

Editor's pick
If you're a foreigner, the answer is the half. By the multiplier, it's the row with the smallest foreigner surcharge. It comes with a finisher's T-shirt and a timing chip, and its 4-hour cutoff leaves room to stop along the way.
What the extra $15 over the 10K buys you is a start before sunrise and 21.1 kilometers beside the temples. Moving up a distance later costs $35, so settle any doubts before you payโit's cheaper that way. Budget from $107.
On top of that come the $4.90 processing fee and a round-trip predawn tuk-tuk. Pick your registration platform based on your card, but finish paying before 5 p.m.
Cambodia time on October 23โand once the confirmation email arrives, don't pay on the other platform.
Once you've paid, book your flight. Bibs aren't handed out on race day, so plan to reach Siem Reap by the evening of December 5 at the latest and pick up your packet at Angkor Century Resort before 8 p.
