THE DREAM
The 10K Valencia Ibercaja by Kiprun is an annual 10km road race held each January in Valencia, Spain, since 2009.
It starts and finishes on Paseo de la Alameda.
A World Athletics Label Road Race and AIMS member event,
it has been named Spain's best 10km race by the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation for several consecutive years.
It is organised by Club de Atletismo 10K Valencia, with Ibercaja bank as title sponsor.
The men's world record of 26:24 in 2020 and the women's world record of 28:46 in 2024 were both set at this race.
A 5km event is also held on the same day.
Picture the course in advance
and find the pace that fits you.
Streets lined with cheers, runners all around.
You'll be part of that scene.
Take it slow with the finish still in you,
and meet the city all over again.
From the joy of finishing to the tough moments — read what runners wrote themselves.
“I would absolutely recommend this race.”Chloe Hamard set a personal best of 39:33 at the 2024 Valencia 10K. She enjoyed the flat, fast course, closed roads, and the DJ and crowd support at the start, and staying with the pack helped her hold her pace through the final kilometer. Bib pickup took place at a shopping center, and there was no finisher medal or snacks at the finish, but she found the organization and atmosphere excellent.
“There is only 1 water stop at around 6KM.”The runner participated together with the wife as part of a weekend trip. The race bib had to be picked up in person on Friday or Saturday, and the Spanish instructions and the process of finding the bib number on site were difficult, but the runner got help from a local person. The runner wrote that most of the course was flat and there was cheering and music, but the start section was crowded. There was only one aid station, at about 6 km, and the restroom lines were long. The VIP area was less satisfying than expected, but the drink bar in front of the finish line was good, and the runner wrote that they would like to participate again.
“Now let me tell you how I experienced running the 10K Valencia Ibercaja.”
They briefly recorded their experience of taking part in the 2020 10K Valencia Ibercaja to regain positive sensations after an injury.

The 10K Valencia Ibercaja by Kiprun holds its 19th edition on Sunday, January 10, 2027.
Both the start and the finish are on the Paseo de la Alameda, between the Puente de la Exposición, commonly known as 'La Peineta', and the Puente de las Flores.
It is a certified 10 km course entirely on city-centre asphalt.
There is a reason the race calls itself the fastest 10K in the world.
Both the men's and women's 10 km world records were set on this course,
and at the 18th edition on January 11, 2026, Sweden's Andreas Almgren set a European record of 26:45, Britain's Eilish McColgan set a women's European record of 30:08, and Said Mechaal set a Spanish record of 27:25.
Mechaal said the first 3 km were especially fast, and 233 athletes finished under 30 minutes that day.
From the 2026 edition, the start and finish area was moved a few metres toward the Puente de las Flores because of set-up work,
traffic and bus route issues, and some sections changed accordingly, so the course was re-certified.
The field is capped at 16,000 runners, and the previous edition sold out early, on November 24.
Pick up your bib, check your wave.
So on race morning, you can just run.
Sat 10 Jan, 08:00–20:00; also race-day pickup at start area until 60 min before gun)

Metro Valencia / EMT bus lines 3 and 5, stop 'Alameda'
Start and finish are on Paseo de la Alameda, between Puente de la Exposición (Puente de la Peineta) and Puente de las Flores-Alcaldesa Rita Barberá. Alameda stop is a few meters from the start zone.
Race Sunday, January 10, 2027, 09:30 (10K), with a separate 5K start at 08:15 from the same location. No official shuttle bus -- public transport (EMT bus or Metro Valencia lines 3/5, Alameda stop) is recommended, or bike/scooter.
A courier/pickup service exists for bib collection for runners from outside the Valencia metro area (not a race-day shuttle). No road-closure details published yet (race is ~5 months out); 100% urban asphalt circuit, max time limit 1h20m, staggered starts along both lanes of Paseo de la Alameda.
Same location as start -- Paseo de la Alameda
The 5K shares the start/finish arch with the 10K.
Mobilis (Tarjeta Móbilis)
Tobacconists (estancos), kiosks, EMT customer service offices, Metrovalencia ticket offices and vending machines; reloadable online at emtvalencia.es or the EMT Valencia app. Works directly at the gates
Alternative: Valencia Tourist Card €15 (24h) / €20 (48h) / €25 (72h) / ~€40 (7 days) — Worth it mainly if you're also using it for free museum/monument entry and shop discounts — for transport alone, tapping a contactless bank card per-ride is usually cheaper unless you're taking 5+ rides a day. Metrovalencia has rolled out open-loop contactless payment at most metro/tram station gates: tap a Visa or Mastercard contactless card directly and it charges the equivalent single fare — though machines can sometimes reject non-EU-issued cards.
The Mobilis card is the traditional rechargeable IC card covering metro, tram, EMT bus, and can be linked to Valenbisi bike share; it's the safer fallback if your bank card is rejected. The Valencia Tourist Card bundles unlimited transport with tourist discounts — a separate product from Mobilis, aimed at sightseeing-heavy visits rather than pure point-to-point transport.
Your start time, fuel and bag drop.
Know them ahead and the run feels easier.
The 10K starts in several waves, beginning with the world elite and sub-elite start at 9:30 AM.
Start areas are assigned automatically based on the estimated or verified time entered at registration,
and runners aiming for under 36 minutes must provide proof of a time from a certified race run on or after January 1, 2025.
To move to a faster area, send a request by email by December 10, 2026;
to move to a slower one, simply start further back.
The time limit is 80 minutes from each runner's own start.
The bib and the Kiprun commemorative T-shirt can be collected on Thursday to Saturday,
January 7–9, from 10 AM to 8 PM, and a visit on the less crowded Thursday is recommended.
Race-day pickup is only available to people coming from outside the Valencia region who can show proof, and it closes 60 minutes before the start.
The finisher medal is not included in the Entry fee and must be purchased separately for 7 euros at registration.
To reach the start, take an EMT bus or Metrovalencia lines 3 and 5 and get off at Alameda station, which is right there.
The free bag drop opens at 7:30 AM, and the only drinks are water at the 5 km mark and water and Aquarius after the finish.
There are no showers.
Times are local to Valencia. Check the latest official information before the race.
