About 21K de Buenos Aires — what makes it special

ABOUT THE RACE

A day you'll remember,
long past the finish line.

21K de Buenos Aires (half marathon de Buenos Aires) is an annual half marathon held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, every August and organised by Asociación Ñandú.

It is known for a flat, fast course along the Río de la Plata and past city landmarks,

earning it the description “the fastest half marathon course in the Americas”.

It has also been presented as having ranked in the World Athletics top 20.

It is one of Latin America’s largest half marathon, with about 31,500 entries for the 2026 race,

including around 6,000 international runners—more than half from Brazil, followed by Chile and Uruguay.

Getting to the finish

Transit card

SUBE card

Kiosks (kioskos), most train and subway stations, and Correo Argentino post offices; a kiosk in the Ezeiza International Airport arrivals hall also sells them. Works directly at the gates

You'll need to show ID/passport and fill out a short form to get a SUBE card, and top-ups can be done at station machines or kiosks. Since contactless bank cards and phone/watch NFC payments have been accepted directly on subte and buses since January 2025, many tourists now skip the card altogether — check that your specific bank's card supports contactless.

Your start time, fuel and bag drop.
Know them ahead and the run feels easier.

Runners start in waves by corral,

Your bib (kit) can be picked up at Parque Sarmiento (entrance towards Av.

Triunvirato) starting 3 days before the competition, and on-site pick-up is not possible on the day of the competition.

After the finish, water, sports drink, and fruit will be provided along with the 'Finisher Ñandú' finisher medal (as of the 2025 competition).

Road closures along the course begin around 5:30 a.m. in Palermo and around 6:30 in the city centre, with roads gradually reopening from around 9:30.
