CutlerTHE DREAM
The course is shaped like a figure eight, with one loop measuring approximately 16.7 km.
50K participants complete three loops.
The route combines singletrack along Bold Coast cliffs with inland sections crossing mud, rocks, and plank bridges over bogs.
There is little elevation change.
Instead, roots, rocks, and mud make the footing slippery, and the bog bridges are particularly slick.
In the 2025 50K, 40 runners started and 26 finished.

and find the pace that fits you.
Streets lined with cheers, runners all around.
You'll be part of that scene.
Take it slow with the finish still in you,
and meet the city all over again.
From the joy of finishing to the tough moments — read what runners wrote themselves.
“I did well balancing my running and hiking ratios.”At the Bold Coast Bash 50km, the runner returned after missing the time limit the previous year. Running every manageable stretch and walking rough ground, they controlled their pace to finish in 9 hours 43 minutes 25 seconds.
“I held it together for the win, and Ian thoroughly enjoyed himself documenting the course over the last lap.”At Bold Coast Bash, the runner enjoyed coastal scenery with a friend over the first two laps. After accelerating on the final lap, they fell on a slippery bridge but overcame fatigue and nerves to win.
We translated a short line from each public race report and summarized the experience. Finish times are as stated by the author, and past editions may differ from this year's weather and operations.

Cut-off
6 hours 30 minutes for the first two laps; 10 hours 30 minutes overall · 16:30 course closes
One loop is approximately 16.7 km (10.4 miles), passing through the short central section of the figure eight twice per lap.
The 50K completes three loops, while Fun Run completes one.
After each lap, runners must return to the start/finish and aid-station area,
and 50K participants must show bib to race officials before heading out for their second and third laps.
Blue survey flags mark every junction on course.
The surface defines the character of this course.
The organizers warn that it becomes extremely slippery in rain or icy conditions.
Some swamp boardwalk sections are unstable or broken, with 6-inch nails protruding in places;
in some sections, stepping on one side causes the other side to lift.
There are no railings along the cliff-top sections.
The inaugural race was held in 2019, with 10-mile and 20-mile distances run in alternating directions each lap.
The 2020 edition was canceled because of COVID-19, and a three-loop, 30-mile distance was added in 2021.
In 2022, the state and the Maine Conservation Corps created a new section, completing the figure-eight course and establishing the official 50K distance;
the direction changes were eliminated.
The 2025 edition was the sixth running.
The course records are 6:00:55 for the 50K (Eric Brooks, 2023) and 7:29:03 (Gillian Kramer, 2024).
For the 16 km Fun Run, they are 1:28:10 (Patrick Caron, 2022) and 2:06:11 (Alice Hotop, 2023).
