Picture the course in advance
and find the pace that fits you.
Streets lined with cheers, runners all around.
You'll be part of that scene.
Take it slow with the finish still in you,
and meet the city all over again.
From the joy of finishing to the tough moments — read what runners wrote themselves.
“I imagine we now live in a world where even a suitable target time can be calculated for me.”
Hide returned to the Fuchu Tamagawa Marathon 10km after seven years for a sixth appearance, finishing in 44 minutes 11 seconds. A slower result than before prompted reflection on a realistic target for Hide’s age, weight, and training volume.

Fuchu Tamagawa Marathon takes place along the Tama River floodplain in Fuchu, Tokyo.
The race uses the Kyodonomori half marathon course along the river, with a flat course and little elevation change at its centre.
The organisers present this terrain both as a good setting for chasing a personal best and as an course where first-time racers can take part.
Unlike an urban course linking city buildings, the riverside course itself becomes the stage for the race, which captures the character of the Fuchu event.
Alongside half marathon, 10 km and 5 km races are held on a Japan Association of Athletics Federations-certified course.
You can choose to experience a riverside run over a shorter distance or compete for a half marathon time, with both options available at the same event.
A one-mile race for general participants and middle-school students is also held on a certified course,
alongside elementary-school divisions and a family division for children running with a guardian.
There is also a shorter event for preschool children and guardians, bringing adult races and children’s first running experiences together.
The event is also affiliated with TEAM ONE TOKYO, a registration programme for runners pursuing fast times.
The competitive aspect of running a set distance on an officially certified course sits alongside a local running festival where families can take part in the same event.
This combination of distances and participant groups on flat riverside terrain defines the race.
