THE DREAM
The Helsingborg Marathon is a competition held in Helsingborg, a port city in Skåne,
southern Sweden, and faces Helsingør, Denmark, at a distance of about 4 km, across the Øresund Strait.
Held for the first time in 2014, it consists of full marathon, half marathon, relay, and Kids Run.
In the 2026 competition, half marathon will also serve as the Swedish half marathon national team selection event.
With a capacity of 2,000 people, it is considered the second largest marathon in Sweden after the Stockholm Marathon.
Picture the course in advance
and find the pace that fits you.
Streets lined with cheers, runners all around.
You'll be part of that scene.
Take it slow with the finish still in you,
and meet the city all over again.
From the joy of finishing to the tough moments — read what runners wrote themselves.
“I ran a marathon. It was the most wonderful marathon in the world.”
At the Helsingborg Marathon, the runner returned to the full marathon after an injury. Finishing in step with a companion helped rediscover the joy of running.

From the 2026 editionWe have not confirmed the start line coordinates yet.
The competition consists of course,
starting from Sundstorget near the Dunkers Cultural Center in the center of Helsingborg at 10 am and circling the city counterclockwise.
The first 7 km are flat and reach Råå Småbåtshamn, then pass through Atekula Nature Reserve,
Rååsa Thermal Park, Fredriksdal Museum Garden, Kohnen Fortress, Polsche Forest and Castle, and Sofiero Castle Garden.
As there is a section passing inside the Helsingborg Arena, it is introduced as the first marathon in Europe to include an indoor section.
In the second half, after a long climb called Tinkarpsbacken, we reach finish in Gröningen, which runs along the coast.
The last 3.3km section has signs installed at 100m intervals.
The halfway point must be passed within 3 hours of departure, with a total of time limit of 6 hours.

Helsingborg Central Station (Helsingborg C) — similar short walk
Finish is at Gröningen, a waterfront park also within easy walking distance of Helsingborg C, along the harbor.
None needed given the short walking distance from the central station to both start and finish.
Helsingborg is served by Skanetrafiken, the regional transit authority for Skane; visitors buy tickets via the Skanetrafiken app or a reloadable Jojo card from ticket machines and Pressbyran kiosks. Contactless bank-card tap payment is accepted on Skanetrafiken buses and trains, making it easy for foreign visitors to skip buying a card.
A single zone fare runs roughly 29-45 SEK.

In early September, Helsingborg is beginning to cool from the summer heat under the influence of its oceanic climate.
Typical September daytime highs are 18.3°C, the daily mean is 14.4°C and lows are around 10.5°C.
Summers tend to last longer and remain milder here than in other parts of Sweden.
Course starts with a flat opening section before the Tingkarpsbacken climb in the latter stages, making pacing important.
The route varies between the city, coast, parks and wooded sections.
The start at Sundstorget is in central Helsingborg, within walking distance of the railway station and ferry terminal.
Helsingør in Denmark is also easily reached by ferry across the strait.
Times are local to Helsingborg. Check the latest official information before the race.
