THE DREAM
Held every autumn in Beijing's Huairou District,
the race is organised by the Huairou District People's Government and jointly managed by the Beijing Athletics Association and the Huairou District Sports Bureau.
It holds the Chinese Athletics Association's (CAA) highest A1 certification and incorporates three of Huairou's signature attractions —
Yanqi Lake, Hongluo Temple, and Mutianyu Great Wall — into course.
First held in 2015, it is known as the first marathon in China to use this name,
with various distances including full marathon and half marathon, along with a 10km race and Kids Run.

Half marathon starts and finishes at the Yanqi Lake International Convention and Exhibition Center,
passes through the Huairou Science City area, and turns back near the Yanqi Lake Dam in a course.
With only 57m of elevation gain, it is generally described as a flat course.
Full marathon finishes at finish at the Great Wall Museum at the foot of Mutianyu Great Wall.
The final 5km is a continuous climb known as “Haohanpo”, gaining more than 300m of elevation on this section alone.
Beginning at the 37km mark, the climb coincides with the point in the marathon when fatigue typically sets in,
making it the race's defining challenge for experienced finishers.

No direct service — take a combination of metro and bus to Huairou, then a local bus
The race takes place at the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall in Huairou District, approximately 80 km from central Beijing.
Per the previous edition (2025): from Dongzhimen, take express bus 916 to Huairou Beidajie, then transfer to bus H23/H24 toward Mutianyu;
total travel time is approximately 2–2.5 hours.
Some previous years offered an organizer shuttle from Shaoyaoju Metro Station;
this is unconfirmed for 2026.
No direct service — the finish is near Mutianyu; return via the same shuttle network as the start
Per the previous edition, shuttle buses run from the finish back to designated parking and shuttle points.
Traffic controls will be in place on multiple roads, including Yanqi Lake West Road, on race day.
14 bus routes will be diverted or suspended on certain sections, and shuttles will operate for spectators.
Per the 2025 edition: no runner parking is available at the start.
Drivers must park at designated shuttle points —
Sinopec Yujiayuan gas station, Miaocheng Yuhe Market, or Zhongguancun No. 1 Primary School Huairou Branch — and take the free organizer shuttles.
Driving is discouraged.
Your start time, fuel and bag drop.
Know them ahead and the run feels easier.
The race is held every year in late September.
During this period, Huairou typically sees daytime highs of around 27°C and nighttime lows of approximately 15°C,
with limited rainfall, making it one of the more comfortable seasons for running near Beijing.
Difficulty varies significantly by distance.
Half marathon has relatively little elevation change and is comparatively gentle, while full marathon has a demanding second half,
with more than 300m of cumulative elevation gained over the 5km section beginning at the 37km mark.
Finish is located at the foot of Mutianyu Great Wall,
giving the event the distinctive feature of running alongside a section of the Great Wall, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Times are local to Huairou District. Check the latest official information before the race.
