THE DREAM
An annual road race held in Kinmen, Taiwan.
Categories include full marathon and half marathon, 10km, and 4km leisure section.
Picture the course in advance
and find the pace that fits you.
Streets lined with cheers, runners all around.
You'll be part of that scene.
Take it slow with the finish still in you,
and meet the city all over again.
From the joy of finishing to the tough moments — read what runners wrote themselves.
“If I have the opportunity, I would like to come back and run full marathon again.”
I-Ching Lai took part in the 2023 Kinmen Marathon with family in the 5K, and watched a fellow runner prepare for and finish the full marathon. Flights and lodging were hard to come by, but the trip and the race made for an enjoyable combination — the 5K drew such a crowd that it felt packed, and after the finish there were noodles and a commemorative drink.

From the 2026 editionThe Kinmen Marathon is an island marathon held in Jincheng Township, Kinmen County,
Taiwan, and the 2027 race is the 20th edition, billed as the '20th anniversary of the Kinmen Marathon'.
The full marathon, half marathon and 10 km are held on Sunday, January 17, with a separate 4 km fun run the day before.
It is organised by the Kinmen County Government, and the main sponsor is Kinmen Kaoliang Liquor, the maker of Kinmen kaoliang liquor.
The full marathon starts at the square in front of the Kinmen-Matsu Joint Services Center, passes Minquan Road and Huandao North Road,
then goes via Boyu Road down to sections 4–5 of Huandao South Road on the south of the island.
It turns at Shixiao Road, runs along Huandao East Road and Gaoyang Road to the east,
loops around the turnaround point on Lanyang Road to the north,
and returns via Cihu Road and Guangqian Road to the starting square, making it a loop course.
The half marathon heads out in the opposite direction and turns around near Housha, and the 10 km makes a short loop around Jincheng.
The course was measured to World Athletics standards.
The fields are 2,000 for the full marathon, 3,300 for the half marathon and 3,500 for the 10 km.
Finishers receive a finisher medal, a large sports towel and a bottle of liquor in a ceramic bottle with the race theme.
Pick up your bib, check your wave.
So on race morning, you can just run.

Jincheng bus routes 7/7A/7B from Jincheng Bus Station, alight at 'Jincheng Junior High School' stop (~2min walk to venue)
No rail/metro on Kinmen island. Start/assembly is the plaza in front of the Kinmen-Matsu Joint Service Center, Jincheng Township.
Assembly/start times: Marathon 06:20/06:50, Half Marathon 06:30/07:00, 10KM 06:40/07:10, confirmed for 2027. Most foreign runners arrive via Kinmen Shangyi Airport and take a taxi (~15-20min) or hotel transfer -- no official race-organized airport shuttle confirmed. Some third-party sources describe a different historical start at National Kinmen University for earlier editions -- treat the Joint Service Center plaza (from the official 2027 site) as primary.
Kinmen Police implement road traffic control roughly 05:00-early/mid afternoon per prior (2026) edition pattern; exact 2027 closure map not yet published. Paid third-party travel packages (e.g.
AsiaYo) bundle airport-hotel-venue shuttle, but this is not a free organizer shuttle.
EasyCard (悠遊卡)
Convenience stores on Kinmen (e.g., a store right by the airport arrivals area exit); card costs NT$100 (non-refundable) Not accepted at the gates — get the local card above
Kinmen buses run on a fixed schedule and are generally on time. Fare is a flat NT$12 per ride.
EasyCard must be tapped twice (boarding and alighting) — unlike some other Taiwan systems where you only tap once. No evidence found of contactless bank card acceptance on Kinmen buses; that capability has only been confirmed for Taipei and Taoyuan Airport MRT gates.
Your start time, fuel and bag drop.
Know them ahead and the run feels easier.
The full marathon assembles on Minzu Road in front of the service centre by 06:20 and starts at 06:50;
the half marathon assembles at 06:30 and starts at 07:00;
and the 10 km assembles at 06:40 and starts at 07:10.
The time limit is 6.5 hours for the full marathon, 5 hours for the half marathon and 2 hours for the 10 km, and times are measured by gun time.
Starting more than 10 minutes after the start time may result in disqualification.
Participant items are collected on January 14–15, 2027, from 13:00 to 20:00 and on the 16th from 13:00 to 18:00 on the 1st floor of the Kinmen County Sports Development Center (261 Minzu Road).
Courier delivery is available only to addresses in Taiwan, so overseas participants must collect their items on site by showing their passport.
The kaoliang liquor souvenir can only be received if you bring your bib in person.
Bags are dropped off from 05:40 to 06:40 at the full marathon and collected from 08:30 to 14:30.
Only the dedicated zippered bag measuring 63 cm long, 24 cm wide and 39 cm high is accepted, and it is sold on site for 299 New Taiwan dollars.
