“What I loved was this peaceful beach waiting for me after the run.”

With limited advance information for the 2024 Maldives half marathon, Ren had to locate the bib pickup on arrival. There were few cheers and only water at the aid station, but Ren ran to the end and enjoyed relaxing on a peaceful beach afterward.

Half marathon course departs and finishes at Hulhumalé Central Park, completing the same circuit four laps.

The course follows Hulhumalé city roads with a flat, fast layout, with aid station positioned every 1km.

no rail/metro in the Maldives — reference is Velana International Airport (Hulhulé island), connected to Hulhumalé by a road causeway; venue is NOT on Malé island, no ferry needed

Start/finish at Hulhumalé Central Park.

From the airport: taxi across the causeway ~10-15 min (~$12-16);

MTCC public bus from the airport's Domestic Terminal to Hulhumalé roughly every 30 min (~$1);

a 24/7 airport-Hulhumalé shuttle also available.

READY TO RUN

From race morning to after the finish.

The Maldives half marathon is held around the Hulhumalé Synthetic Track, with the half marathon (21.0975 km) and 15 km starting at 5:15 a.m.,

the 10 km (Tough Ten) at 6:00 a.m., the 5 km Fun Run and wheelchair race at 7:30 a.m., and the Kids Mile (3.2 km, 1.6 km, and 400 m) at 8:30 a.m.

Bib and race T-shirts must be collected in advance at the Maldives Running Expo, held at the Hulhumalé Synthetic Track before the race.

The expo runs for two days from three days before the race, from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.,

and on the final day from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. (with children and international participants given priority).

Proceeds from Entry fee are donated to Save The Beach Maldives, supporting marine ecosystem conservation in the Maldives.
