A 2024 participant said they ran 22 km of the marathon course, recalling that the number of marathon participants and event staff had increased from the previous year. They also recalled concerns about the heat after the start order for the 42 km and 10 km events was changed. This is a partial-race account that explicitly says the participant stopped partway, not a race-finish report.

The organizers announced the cancellation of full marathon and refunds for Entry fee in 2025.

The 2026 official page confirms only a separate half marathon on September 9, so its details have not been mixed with information about the 42 km race.

The most recent full marathon results available are from April 21, 2024.

The start and finish locations, registration, fees, course map, and other details remain unconfirmed until a new full marathon announcement is made.

Kiosks/dealers citywide marked with the 'İzmirim Kart' sales logo, or top-up/vending machines ('yüklematik') at metro stations, İZBAN stations, and ferry piers Works directly at the gates

İzmir Büyükşehir Belediyesi partnered with Visa (and later Mastercard) to let both domestic and foreign contactless bank/credit/prepaid cards tap directly on ESHOT and İZULAŞ buses, the metro, tram, İZBAN commuter rail, and İZDENİZ ferries — no İzmirim Kart purchase required. As of April 2026 the full single-ride fare (İzmirim Kart) is 35 TL; paying with a foreign contactless bank card means you won't get transfer discounts, but it works on the full network.
