“I made it to finish without slowing down, so I felt I'd done well.”
At the 2025 Matsue Shinji Lake Sunset Marathon's 20-kilometer race, the runner coped with the heat by drinking at the aid station and pouring water over the back of their neck. They accelerated on the final lap and pushed harder over the last 2 kilometers, meeting their goal with a finish of 1 hour, 48 minutes, 19 seconds.

Kotetsu hoped to finish the 2023 Matsue Shinjiko Sunset Marathon 10km under 40 minutes, but couldn't maintain the planned pace. A water outage at home delayed departure and prevented a proper warmup, and Kotetsu slowed to a jogging pace to finish.
