María Paz Romero OleaRan in 2026
“The humidity was very high throughout the race and noticeable from the first kilometer, so hydrating before and after the race was essential.”

A participant in the 2026 Lima Marathon describes staying in Miraflores, a quick kit pickup, and the early start time. The high humidity made hydration before, during, and after the race essential, and she found the elevation changes on the course manageable but requiring strategy. She also rated the crowd support and aid stations on the course positively.

Muchísima humedad en la carrera, se siente desde el primer kilómetro, la hidratación previa, durante carrera y después es fundamental.

“One of the most surprising things is the atmosphere. There are really so many people out on the streets!”

Marcela Lira and Gabriela Novoa experienced high humidity from early in the day and a narrow opening course at the 2025 Lima 21K. The sea views and support from local residents gave them energy later in the race, and they said they enjoyed the travel and food in Miraflores after finishing.

Una de las cosas que más sorprende es el ambiente: ¡hay tanta gente en las calles!

Mauricio Retamal EspejoRan in 2025
“Despite everything I've described, I fully recommend the Lima Marathon. There's no marathon that doesn't hurt — none that's easy or comfortable — but this one stands out for its great atmosphere and joy.”

At the 2025 Lima Marathon, the runner dealt with a two-lap course, underpasses, humidity and long gradual climbs, but finished in a good atmosphere with plenty of support. The start was crowded, and the latter stages after 30 km were difficult, but the runner especially remembers the aid stations and the support from the spectators.

A pesar de lo descrito, recomiendo totalmente la maratón de Lima, no hay maratón que no duela, que sea fácil y cómoda, pero destaco esta por su buen ambiente y alegría.

Juan Pablo BarrenecheaRan in 2024
“The energy peaked in the tunnel before entering the finish, and I used that energy to give my best until the finish.”

Juan Pablo Barrenechea took part in the 2024 10K and described collecting his race kit, the early start, the cheering and parades along the route, and the atmosphere in front of the finish tunnel. He said that the race was a meaningful experience because it supported a cancer foundation.

Original quote

La llegada a la meta estuvo marcada por un túnel previo que llevó la energía al límite, permitiéndome finalizar la carrera al máximo.

Stations & transport near the venue

Buy a Lima Pass card (about S/4.50) at any Metropolitano station and load cash onto it — foreign contactless bank cards don't work directly at the turnstiles, you need the local card.

Getting to the start

Plaza de Armas de Lima

Runners gather at Plaza de Armas de Lima starting at 05:00.

10K departs 06:00, Media Maraton (21K) departs 07:00, both from Plaza de Armas de Lima.

Getting to the finish

More details

Traffic closure window fixed by authorities;

max finishing time 4h00m set for the 21K, which also marks event closure.

(Local press separately reported detailed street closures and Metropolitano/Corredor rerouting, but that is press coverage, not an official source, so not included here.)

Any Metropolitano station (ticket counters and recharge modules)

Not accepted at the gates — get the local card above

More details

Lima Pass is a contactless smart card (tap on the turnstile reader) but it must be purchased and loaded with cash/balance first —

it isn't an open-loop system that reads foreign bank cards.

Authorities are rolling out an interoperable card (TIT) in 2026 to unify Metropolitano, Metro de Lima and corridor buses, but this is still card-based.
