CapiRan in 2026
“Finally, we stepped onto the red carpet leading beneath the cathedral.”

The runner ran the Murcia Marathon as the 4:30 pacer. On the second lap, after the half-marathon runners had split off, the runner led a small group, encouraged tired runners and reached the finish in front of the cathedral.

This 42.195 km course is certified by the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation and takes you through Murcia's historic center rather than the outskirts.

The race starts on Avenida Teniente Flomesta, heads east along Región Murciana Avenue, and then enters the city center.

Along the way, you pass the city hall, the university headquarters, the former prison building,

the municipal library, the bullring, Casa Cerdá, the Chimenea de la Seda, and the La Menina monument.

You then pass Plaza Circular and Gran Vía before following the Segura river.

All three events—the marathon, half marathon, and 10 km—finish together in Plaza Cardenal Belluga, directly in front of Murcia Cathedral.

Getting to the start

Avenida/Paseo Teniente Flomesta, Murcia — ~130m/2min walk from Murcia del Carmen railway station (Renfe Cercanías C1/C2, Media Distancia, Alta Velocidad)

Marathon and half marathon start on Paseo Teniente Flomesta at 9:30am, 10km starts earlier at 8:45am (per Feb 1, 2026 prior edition's schedule).

Easy 10-15min walk from Murcia del Carmen station, or a short taxi ride from most central hotels.

More details

Official site references a travel partner ('Transvia Sport') for trip planning but gives no shuttle specifics.

During road closures, city public bus routes are diverted but kept running near the course via Puente Miguel Caballero,

Puente Viejo, Alameda de Colón and Floridablanca (per Feb 1, 2026 edition traffic notices — reconfirm exact reroutes for 2027).

Murcia del Carmen train station sits essentially adjacent to the start line, making rail the most convenient race-morning arrival.

IC card

Bono Murcia (rechargeable card; min. load €5, max. €30)

Vending machines at tram stops and on buses;

official transit office at La Ladera station (Line 1)

Works directly at the gates

More details

Cash single ticket (bought at the machine before boarding) costs €1.05 within the urban zone or €1.40 interurban.

A Bono Murcia card drops the per-ride price to about €0.70, but for a short visit tapping a contactless bank card directly is simpler —

confirmed that users can simply bring their card or mobile device with contactless payment to the reader/validator next to the driver's cabin.

Stations & transport near the venue

Murcia has a single tram line plus city buses,

unified under the Mub card system - cards can be requested/reloaded at Transportes de Murcia offices and tram stops;

a single tram ride costs around 0.70 EUR with the card.

Foreign contactless bank cards are not set up for tap-to-ride here, so pick up a Mub card if you plan to use transit.

READY TO RUN

From race morning to after the finish.

Your start time, fuel and bag drop.
Know them ahead and the run feels easier.

Please find bib at the advance pick-up location designated by the organizer.

Due to regulations, in principle, bib is not distributed on the day of the game,

and if you need to receive it on the same day, you must apply by email and receive individual approval.

If you cannot go in person, you can have an agent pick it up with a copy of your ID and the tracking number from the receipt confirmation.

To store items, you must use the participant bag you received at Packet Pickup and attach a number sticker like the bib number.

We will not accept other bags or unnumbered items, so please prepare your bags before arriving on site.

You can check the contents at the storage window, and participants are responsible for the items they have deposited.

Course Drinks are provided at the supply station, and food is also available at some locations.

If you pass the finals, you will move through the participant-only area and receive water, supplies, and finisher medal.

If you leave this area, you will not be able to re-enter, so it is best to leave after receiving the necessary items.

Storage bags are provided in the order you find them after leaving the dedicated area.

Times are local to Murcia. Check the latest official information before the race.
