Run Oak Island is a race that involves running along the coast and wetlands of North Carolina, USA.
In addition to the two types of half marathon, full marathon and ultra, 10km, 5km, and 1 mile events will be held on separate schedules.
It is part of the BAM coastal running series that connects Sunset Beach and Ocean Isle,
so you can plan your trip by participating in one place or running through several coastal towns.
Full marathon begins by looking at the sun rising over the wetlands.
As you pass the country club and arboretum, you encounter green scenery different from the coastal road, and in some sections, the shade of trees continues.
It heads towards the Oak Island Lighthouse through a path where live oaks grow, and there are sections with ocean views here and there.
The second half passes a bridge over the intercoastal waterway, and the final section continues on a flat road.
Rather than course, which only follows the sea, it is a route that covers a wider range of wetlands, trees, and waterways inside the island.
East half marathon and West half marathon show different landscapes and topography even on the same island.
East half marathon runs in the direction of the lighthouse along with full marathon, but omits the arboretum section.
The west half marathon leads from the beach road toward the waterway, crosses the bridge twice, and has more ups and downs than the east course.
West half marathon, which also allows walking participation, focuses on the experience of completing the course without any competitive awards.
10km is course on a flat road by the sea with few changes in direction, so the way you encounter Oak Island varies depending on the event you participate in.
