“The enthusiastic support from the high school students helped me several times, in particular.”
The runner ran the Ryoma Domain full marathon in Yusuhara. The runner walked up the steep climb at the halfway point and focused on form on the long descent to reduce the strain on the thighs. The runner finished in the 3:23 range.

Read the original on スイミーノート“I enjoyed the Ryoma Dappan full marathon so much that I could hardly bear the thought of the running ending.”
At Ryoma Dappan Marathon, the runner controlled their early pace and heart rate, stopping at every aid station to refuel and save strength for later. After passing the 38km mark where they had previously stalled, they accelerated to finish in an event personal best of 4 hours 33 minutes 29 seconds.

The Ryoma Riding Marathon is a race that runs along the path walked by Sakamoto Ryoma and other governors in Yusuhara, Kochi Prefecture, Japan.
When leaving the Dosa clan, I used the past hill and related places as course,
and instead of just naming a person, I transferred the actual route of leaving the clan to the running stage.
The purpose stated by the organizers is to experience the nature of Yusuhara and to expand exchanges between runners and local vitality.
Full marathon runs from the center of Yusuhara through Niragatoge to Shimogumi and then back.
The official guidelines explain that the altitude difference is approximately 550m and that some mountain passes are included.
This figure is a height difference of course, which is different from the cumulative elevation gain.
Because the topography of the pass matches the historical background,
the undulations of the road themselves serve as clues to understanding Ryoma's journey in this competition.
Half marathon runs in the Shimogumi direction, and the 10km route takes a separate route that passes through the Miyanono direction and returns.
The atmosphere of the entire village cheering on the runners and the eve system where participants and management meet are also featured in the official introduction.
Yusuhara Town and the Board of Education jointly participate to support the nature of the local event.
The organizers present the purpose of the competition as an opportunity to reflect on one's own potential while going through the difficult course.
The historical context of running directly on the hill that Ryoma walked distinguishes this marathon from typical urban races.
Pick up your bib, check your wave.
So on race morning, you can just run.
Registration and bib pickup details for the Ryoma Tabban Marathon (Yusuhara) could not be confirmed in publicly available sources.
JR Dosan Line to Susaki Station, then transfer to a Tosaden Kotsu or Kochi Koryo Kotsu bus bound for Yusuhara, riding to the terminus stop in Yusuhara town center
By car, ~50 min from Susaki-higashi IC on the Kochi Expressway. Remote mountain town (Yusuhara, Kochi) with no direct rail access — describes the general/recurring access pattern, not 2026-specific.
Free parking at the main venue; overflow parking in front of 'Marché Yusuhara' if full. Check ryoma-dappan-m.com closer to race day.
Your start time, fuel and bag drop.
Know them ahead and the run feels easier.
To get to the event venue in front of Yusuhara Town Hall by public transportation,
get off at Susaki Station on the JR Dosan Line, then transfer to a bus bound for Yusuhara and get off at the last stop.
The official access information shows Tosaden Kotsu and Kochi Goryo Kotsu buses.
You need to check the train arrival and bus connection before making a travel schedule.
You can park your car only if you apply for it in advance and have a parking permit.
Since the number of parking lots around the event venue is limited,
the organizers recommend that people come together and park their cars around private houses, stores, or on the edges of the road.
Bib will be sent in advance along with participation instructions, so you must check the items you received before taking them.
The village gift certificate and hot spring voucher included in the participation items are valid on the day of the event.
If you plan to use the gift certificate after completing the course,
it is a good idea to organize your items and plan your movement within the village in advance.
In rainy weather, some routes may change, so on-site guidance and official announcements are given priority.
Times are local to Yusuhara. Check the latest official information before the race.
