This autumn marathon starts and finishes in front of the Luermen Mazu Temple in Tainan’s Annan District.

The loop course passes the remains of Fuchengtianxian Fortress, where Koxinga is said to have landed.

Starting in the forecourt of a major center of Mazu worship, it is an intimate race limited to 1,000 runners per event.

“I took it easy over 21 km and finished this half marathon on my second visit.”

JAD's phone battery died around 7 km into the half marathon at the 2023 Tainan Autumn Marathon, ending the audiobook. JAD struck up a conversation with a runner moving at a similar speed and completed a second appearance by running and walking together.

Course starts and finishes at Luermen Mazu Temple (Beishanwei Luermen Tianhou Temple, 北汕尾鹿耳門天后宮) in Annan District, Tainan.

Runners leave the temple, follow Mazugong 1st Street, turn left onto Mazugong 345th Lane,

pass the historic Fucheng Tianxian fortress site, then turn right onto Mazugong 345th Lane and continue via Beishanwei 2nd Road 247th Lane,

Beishanwei 2nd Road, and Beishanwei 2nd Road 661st Lane 15th Alley before returning to Mazugong 1st Street and passing finish in front of the temple.

Organizers describe this course as a course that begins at dawn in front of the Mazu temple and heads toward Taijiang National Park.

In reality, the area around course is surrounded by fish farms, dikes, and wetlands,

making it a flat course through the wide-open scenery characteristic of Taiwan’s west-coast tidal flats.

Tainan Railway Station (台南火車站) - approx. 14 km from venue, taxi/bus needed

Venue is Beishaiwei Luermen Mazu Temple, Annan District, Tainan - a coastal/outlying area not on rail transit. The official event page did not list an organizer shuttle bus.

Foreign runners should plan on taxi/rideshare from Tainan Train Station or Tainan HSR Station. City: Tainan (Annan District specifically), Taiwan.

READY TO RUN

From race morning to after the finish.

The 2026 event is divided into four events: full marathon 42.195 km, half marathon 21 km, 13 km, and 6 km.

Entry fee are priced at 1,400, 1,250, 1,100, and 900 TWD, respectively,

plus a separate 100 TWD chip deposit, which is refunded when the chip is returned after finishing.

Each event is capped at 1,000 participants.

Registration runs from 5:00 p.m. on April 24, 2026, through 11:59 p.m. on October 18.

Start times are 6:00 a.m. for full marathon, 6:10 a.m. for half marathon, 6:20 a.m. for the 13K, and 6:30 a.m. for the 6K.

Time limit are 7 hours, 4 hours, 2 hours, and 1 hour 30 minutes, respectively.

Race entry includes a commemorative T-shirt, bib, timing chip, finisher finisher medal, finisher certificate, drinks, and insurance.

A shuttle bus also operates from beside the Shangri-La Hotel at Tainan Rear Station,

departing at 4:30 a.m. and returning around 12:30 p.m. If force-majeure weather conditions such as a typhoon occur,

the organizers may cancel or postpone the event, or change it to an alternative course.
