THE DREAM
The 2026 Hangeul Run is a running event held on October 9, 2026, at the City Festival Ground in Central Park, Sejong City, to commemorate Hangeul Day.
It consists of two categories — 10.9km (symbolizing Hangeul Day) and 5.15km (symbolizing King Sejong's birthday) — with a total of 13,000 participants.
Picture the course in advance
and find the pace that fits you.
Streets lined with cheers, runners all around.
You'll be part of that scene.
Take it slow with the finish still in you,
and meet the city all over again.
From the joy of finishing to the tough moments — read what runners wrote themselves.
“It was my first challenge after becoming a father, so it felt even more meaningful.”
The runner took part in the 2025 Sejong Hangeul Run 10.9K on Hangeul Day. The runner encountered congestion on the narrow section after crossing the Eung Bridge, but running alongside so many participants gave the runner energy. The runner wrote that it was especially meaningful because it was the runner's first challenge since becoming a father.

The runner took part in the 2025 Sejong Hangeul Run 10.9 km with a friend and finished. Because the runner had not slept enough after driving a long distance over the holiday and caring for a baby, the goal of 1:09 was changed to simply finishing. The climb on the I-eung Bridge course was tough, and the runner wrote that the event made them realize the importance of managing their condition.

The runner completed the 10.9 km at the 2025 Sejong Hangeul Run in 1:07:29. The hot weather and mid-course climb were tough, but the runner maintained the runner's pace without walking. Because the runner had to go straight to work after the event, the runner could not fully enjoy the experience booths.

The runner took part in the 2025 Sejong Hangeul Run 10.9 km and walked about 30 minutes from the parking area to the event venue. When the runner repeatedly had to stop on the narrow out-and-back course along the Geumgang River, they gave up their goal of finishing within an hour and switched to simply enjoying the run. The runner found the bag drop and event information convenient.

Read the original on 네이버 블로그 · 구니의 2도5촌 이야기“I felt so bad that I thought about giving up a hundred times from around 8 km, but I finished even if it meant walking.”
At the 2025 Sejong Hangeul Run 10.9K, the runner encountered a narrow out-and-back section along the Geumgang River and congestion around the turnaround point. The heat and poor condition made the second half difficult, and the runner walked at times, but finished. The baggage storage and booth layout were convenient, although the runner found the course and T-shirt quality disappointing.

Hangeul Run is a citizen festival in Sejong City that celebrates Hangeul Day by running.
It is opened jointly by Sejong Special Self-Governing City and Herald Media Group,
and the two streets symbolize Hangeul Day and King Sejong's birthday, respectively.
Course starts from Sejong Central Park City Festival Ground and returns to the same place, connecting the park and riverside of Hangeul Culture City.
You can choose a short or long distance to participate in the same festival route.
The long course passes the National Children's Museum and heads toward Ieung Bridge and Geumgang Riverside Road.
Turn at the Arboretum-ro intersection and return to the museum through the National Sejong Arboretum Circular course and the Yanghwa intersection.
The short course road passes the museum and Ieung Bridge, but then turns back at the Geumgang Riverside Road and heads toward Central Park.
The two roads share a scene that leads from the park to the river, and the longer one adds an arboretum section, connecting Sejong's green space widely.
The theme of the event is ‘Hangeul, Reaching People’.
Based on the old saying ‘Samatda’ from the Hunminjeongeum Eonhaebon, the meaning of hearts connecting and connecting is expressed through today’s running.
The idea is to superimpose the process of different people sharing the same path and moment with the connecting function of Hangul.
The official introduction aims to be an open festival where anyone can participate,
emphasizing interest and pride in Hangeul and the value of Hangeul found in everyday life.
Rather than distinguishing Gyeongju based solely on the length of the record,
it is an event designed to bring together the symbols of the streets, city parks, and the meaning of the Korean alphabet.
