The road to your own record
Picture the course in advance
and find the pace that fits you.

The city you want to run becomes your next trip.

THE DREAM
A leading domestic certified marathon with a history of around 80 years, dating back to 1946.
An AIMS-certified course that loops Lake Uiam, it is an outstanding course run through the autumn foliage.
A symbolic race known among runners for the saying: “You are not a real runner until you have run Chunma.”
Picture the course in advance
and find the pace that fits you.
Streets lined with cheers, runners all around.
You'll be part of that scene.
Take it slow with the finish still in you,
and meet the city all over again.
From the joy of finishing to the tough moments — read what runners wrote themselves.
“The time was 5 hours, 3 minutes, and 33 seconds.”
A first-time Chuncheon full marathon participant recorded the pain and cramps after the halfway point, the decline in pace, and the experience of finishing.

The runner started behind the group they had been assigned to because they had to wait for the toilets, but finished within 4 hours after getting over the uphill sections, including Chuncheon Dam. The runner looked back on the cloudy weather, lakeside scenery, and the crew’s support.

The runner wrote that they recorded 3 hours 53 minutes in their first full marathon, but they were disqualified because they started in Group E instead of Group F. They described the decline in pace in the second half, blisters on the soles of their feet, and the power of the support, and regretted not following the starting-group rules.

The runner found the early part of the full course manageable, but after the halfway point, pain in the soles of the feet and nausea caused the pace to drop. The runner walked several times from 35km onward and finished amid the support at Sinmae Bridge and near the finish.

The runner entered the full marathon without enough training, endured the uphill section at Chuncheon Dam and fatigue in the second half, and finished. The runner liked the lake scenery, adequate water stations, and support from the students, and wrote that the bus journey home took 4 hours.

The registration schedule for the 2026 Chuncheon Marathon has been officially announced.
Before general entry opens, there will be an advance registration period based on the number of previous finishes.
The key general-entry period, which closes when capacity is reached, varies by course.
The full marathon opens at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 14, and the 10K opens at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 16.
Demand is high and places may sell out within minutes, so set an alarm.
Anyone hoping to enter should apply promptly through the “Apply” page under “Registration” on the official website.
Age limits: The full marathon is open to runners aged 18 and over, while the 10km course has no separate age restriction.
Pick up your bib, check your wave.
So on race morning, you can just run.
The official guide for the 2026 version Packet Pickup has not been released yet.
It is known that the Chuncheon Marathon has been sent by pre-mail (courier) in the form of a disposable timing chip attached to the back of bib, but this has not been confirmed as of the 2026 competition, and detailed information will be sequentially announced on the official website as the competition approaches.

Chuncheon Station (ITX-Cheongchun line) -- from Seoul, board at Yongsan Station (74–80 min, KRW 9,800) or Cheongnyangni Station (58–64 min, KRW 7,100). From Chuncheon Station, venue at Gongji Stream is ~20min walk or 5–10min taxi.
Start point is Gongji Stream Bridge; assembly at the Gongji Stream artificial turf field. Confirmed 2026–10–25 09:00 start.
If taking the train, leave Yongsan before 5:30 AM.
Same Gongji Stream area as start (loop course via Uiam Lake)
Return shuttle buses depart 2:30–4:00 PM on a first-come basis. Pre-booking recommended for ITX-Cheongchun return given heavy post-race demand.
Announcement of shuttle bus operation in 2026 (detailed schedule not confirmed, announced imminently)
Official shuttle buses depart Seoul 6:00 AM simultaneously from 4 locations direct to the venue, no transfers: City Hall Station Exit 2, Jamsil Sports Complex Station Exit 6, Sindorim Station Exit 1, Sadang Station Exit 12. One ticket per person; reservations sell out quickly, book right after race registration.
Your start time, fuel and bag drop.
Know them ahead and the run feels easier.
The Chuncheon Marathon has typically started from Gongjicheon Bridge at 9 a.m. on the last Sunday of October (scheduled for October 25 in 2026).
At the end of October, Chuncheon is an inland area where temperatures drop significantly at dawn and in the morning,
so it is quite chilly during the wait before the start and there is a large daily temperature difference with the temperature rising as the sun rises after starting the run.
Bring an extra outer layer or a plastic covering for warmth that you can remove before the start.
If you are wearing short sleeves and shorts, it is a good strategy to protect your body temperature in the early stages with arm sleeves or thin gloves.
Details of bib distribution and Packet Pickup will be sequentially posted on the official website and notices as the competition approaches,
so be sure to check 2-3 weeks before the competition.
There are three main types of transportation: The organizer's shuttle buses depart from Seoul City Hall Station, Jamsil,
Sindorim, and Sadang all at around 6 a.m., and if reservations are not made immediately after registration, they often close early.
By train, the ITX-Cheongchun takes about 74 to 80 minutes from Yongsan and about 58 to 64 minutes from Cheongnyangni,
and it is about a 20-minute walk from Chuncheon Station to the venue.
You can also take the Gyeongchun Line subway and get off at Namchuncheon Station.
Train seats sell out quickly on the morning of the competition, so make your reservations quickly.
It is difficult to recommend private vehicles as parking spaces near Gongjicheon are limited and traffic restrictions begin at 7 a.m.
Many reviews say that there are no major inconveniences in leaving and retrieving luggage as there are ample storage booths.
However, there are long lines at the station and venue restrooms, so it is recommended that you use the restroom as much as possible in advance.
The course is an internationally certified loop course around Uiam Lake,
and the first half is a relatively flat section that runs along the lakeside road while looking at the autumn leaves of Samaksan Mountain and the lake.
The real deciding factor is the long uphill section starting from Seosang Bridge around 25 km,
and 25 to 35 km is considered the most difficult section of the competition.
If the early scenery tempts you to push your pace too hard, you can fade on this section.
Run the first 5 to 15 km more conservatively than your target pace and save your strength for the climb.
After the climb, the route trends downhill towards the finish, giving you a chance to pick up speed at the end.
The full marathon time limit is 5 hours and 30 minutes.
The course and race arrangements may change from year to year, so be sure to check the latest competition guidelines.
Times are local to Chuncheon. Check the latest official information before the race.
