This full and half marathon marathon in Kunming starts and finishes at Haigeng on the shores of Dianchi Lake.

Teams from Shanghai Cooperation Organisation member states take part, and the race was upgraded to a World Athletics Gold Label for its 10th anniversary.

An international race for 26,000 runners at 1,890 m above sea level in Kunming, the “Spring City.”

There are two events: full marathon (full marathon) and half marathon (half marathon).

In the previous edition (2025, held on November 30), both the start and finish were at the Yunnan Haigeng Auditorium in Kunming,

with a looped course starting and finishing at the auditorium.

It is a China Athletics Association (CAA) Class A-certified race, and was upgraded to World Athletics Gold Label status for its 10th anniversary.

This is a separate race from the Kunming half marathon held in June.

Field size: Approximately 26,000 participants (as of 2024)
Grade: CAA Grade A
Typical race-season temperature: around 8°C (47°F): Short sleeves or light long sleeves + arm warmers

Getting to the start

Daba Station (大坝地铁站), Kunming Metro

Per the 2025 edition (held Nov 30, 2025), start/finish was Yunnan Haigeng Auditorium, Kunming.

Race-day service adjustments were made at Daba metro station and on bus routes 171, K50, K51, Z95, Z96, and K25 to serve the venue area.

This is the 'SCO (Shanghai Cooperation Organisation) Kunming Marathon', distinct from the smaller 'Kunming Half Marathon' held separately in June.

The SCO Kunming Marathon, known for attracting teams from Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) member states,

accepted online entries from 10:00am on October 30 to 6:00pm on November 5 last year (2025), and was held on November 30 along the shores of Dianchi Lake.

Based on the previous edition (2024), participation had grown to around 26,000 (full marathon 6,000 · half marathon 10,000 · SCO Run 6,000 · Kids Run 4,000);

for its 10th anniversary, the race was upgraded to a World Athletics Gold Label event.

Once the designated time limit time for each course section has passed, the timing mat at that point is switched off and the road reopened to general traffic,

so runners who do not pass time limit within the limit must stop racing at that location.
