Race reports: 3
Christine WongRan in 2024
“The course was quite flat, maybe a bit too much packed into the same streets, with dual-way running.”

A participant in the 2024 TwinCity half marathon said the course was generally flat, with sufficient hydration and electrolyte stops and good volunteer support. She dealt with hot, humid weather and fatigue in the second half, but enjoyed the race all the way to the finish.

u/izzudd1n_Ran in 2023 · Finish time 1:42:14 (Half Marathon)
“I just wanted to finish without injury.”

The runner aimed to finish comfortably ahead of the hill course. Because they started late, they made their way through the crowds at the beginning. Side pain began at 11 km, so they managed the section from 13 to 18 km by alternating between running and walking. They pushed again over the final 3 km and finished the half marathon in 1 hour 42 minutes 14 seconds.

DrCatRan in 2019 · Finish time 6 jam 53 minit
“At last, I completed my first full marathon in 6:53.”

DrCat took on their first full marathon just after recovering from runner's knee. They gutted out the tough stretch after 21K and some hydration issues to finish in 6:53:00.

The Twin City Marathon is an urban running event held in Putrajaya and Cyberjaya.

The 2027 event will be the 12th edition and has become established on Malaysia's local running calendar.

The 3 km Kids Dash and 10 km Friendship Run take place on 23 January,

followed on 24 January by the 42 km full marathon, 21 km half marathon, 12 km race and 5 km Fun Run.

The full marathon starts at 2:30 am and must be completed within 8 hours.

The half marathon starts at 3:45 am and has a time limit of 4 hours.

The 12 km starts at 6:45 am and has a 2-hour 30-minute limit, while the 5 km starts at 7:00 am and has a 2-hour time limit.

This course uses the city's main roads and landmarks, and water and medical stations are provided for each event.

The long-distance events require consideration of both the very early start and the time limit.

Typical race-season temperature: around 25°C (76°F)
Hot race — plan fluids and electrolytes

More details

Getting to the start

Putrajaya Sentral (MRT Putrajaya Line + ERL KLIA Transit "Putrajaya & Cyberjaya" station) is the nearest major transit hub, but several km from the actual start line at Dataran Putrajaya, Presint 3

Per the 2026 edition (17-18 Jan 2026), start/finish moved from Cyberjaya to Putrajaya, at Dataran Putrajaya, Presint 3. The 2027 edition (23-24 Jan 2027) official page currently only lists dates/categories/entry pack collection at PICC Hall A without a confirmed 2027 start-line address — Presint 3 location is per the prior edition pending 2027 confirmation. Full marathon flag-off as early as 2:30 AM in 2027 listings.

Getting to the finish

Same general area as start (Dataran Putrajaya, Presint 3) per typical loop-course convention

No source explicitly states a finish location distinct from the start; not separately confirmed for 2027.

Start shuttle

Putrajaya Sentral (MRT/ERL/bus/taxi hub) is the nearest scheduled public transport point but not walking distance to the start; runners appear to rely on taxi/e-hailing (Grab) or self-drive with event parking.

Transit card

Touch 'n Go Card

7-Eleven and other convenience stores, transit stations, Touch 'n Go outlets Not accepted at the gates — get the local card above

Alternative: Rapid Kembara Pass RM25 (1-day) / RM55 (3-day) — Worth it if you'll take multiple rides per day across LRT/MRT/monorail/bus in the wider Kuala Lumpur-Putrajaya area. Putrajaya itself has limited local transit (the Nadiputra bus network, some routes free), so most visitors combine it with KL's MRT/KLIA Transit.

Payment is via Touch 'n Go card (physical or the TnG eWallet app), not by tapping a foreign bank card directly at gates.

READY TO RUN

From race morning to after the finish.

Your start time, fuel and bag drop.
Know them ahead and the run feels easier.

Race weekend is 23–24 January.

Full marathon and half marathon start close to midnight, so it is best to choose accommodation in Putrajaya or Cyberjaya with travel time in mind.

The race proceeds in the rain, but operations may change if conditions such as heavy rain or thunderstorms are deemed unsafe.

Choose clothing based on the start time and your tolerance for heat, and plan your supplies for the longer distances based on the locations of the aid stations.

Bib and the race kit can be collected at Hall A of the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC).

Collection is available from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm on 21–22 January and from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm on 23 January.

You must bring a digital or printed confirmation and your passport or identification card.

A signed authorization letter is required for collection by a representative.

Registration is completed through the BOOM CLUB app.

Times are local to Putrajaya. Check the latest official information before the race.
