Alsterlauf Hamburg is a 10km road race that runs along the Alster Lake in downtown Hamburg, Germany.
The start and finish are held in Ballindam, and course goes around the Orealster and connects to the city center.
The official introduction cites the scenery around the Inner Alster and Outer Alster and the starting and final atmosphere in central Hamburg as the characteristics of the competition.
The section running near the lake is connected to the city center, creating Hamburg's representative waterfront space as the background for the race.
Course consists of a flat asphalt road and is closed to vehicle traffic during the game.
It is a cycle course with distances measured according to World Athletics and AIMS standards,
so participants are also taking on the challenge of setting a certified road record.
In addition to the 10km, there are 5km, student runs, and R5K events for promising athletes.
Short-distance races use a separate loop section in Ballindam, taking part in an urban race that is different from the main race around the lake.
The competition is part of the Hamburg Running Cup and is also connected to other local road running events.
R5K is a youth and young adult running series run jointly by the German Athletics Federation, the German Road Race, and local organizers.
For social purposes, we support the Hamburg AIDS support group.
Donations collected during the application process are delivered to the organization after the competition.
