“I keep running because I love it.”
After the early congestion cleared at the 2020 Fuzhou Marathon, Lei Meng held a steady pace and took energy gel as planned. He stayed strong late on, finishing in 3 hours 45 minutes 26 seconds, 24 minutes faster than his debut and under 4 hours for the first time.

Lei Meng closed the racing year at the 2018 Fuzhou International Marathon, finishing the half marathon in 1 hour 53 minutes. Running along both banks of the Min River, across bridges, and through flower-filled parks, Lei enjoyed the drums and cheering crowds.

RACE WEEK
Know the course and time limit, and race day comes into focus.
The Fuzhou Marathon takes place in Fuzhou, the capital of Fujian province.
The city is a major hub in southeastern China, south of the Min River estuary and north of Ningde, with a population of 8.3 million.
The race is held every December and, based on the December 15, 2024 edition, has World Athletics Label Road Race status.
Pick up your bib, check your wave.
So on race morning, you can just run.
You must bring your original ID and participation confirmation and go through facial recognition to receive it, and proxy pickup is not possible at all.
It can be accessed from the 会展中心 station on subway line 4.
It is recommended to visit on Thursdays and Fridays as it is crowded with out-of-town players on Saturdays.
Based on the 2025 edition — Thu, Dec 11, 09:00–18:00; Fri, Dec 12, 09:00–18:00; Sat, Dec 13, 09:00–21:00
Set up Alipay with a foreign Visa/Mastercard/JCB/Diners Club/Discover card, get the Fuzhou Metro ride code in-app, and scan to ride metro and buses; consider the 3-day metro+bus pass if sightseeing heavily.
Wuyi Square (五一广场), Gutian Road (古田路) area, Fuzhou
In 2025, Metro Nanmendou Station (南门兜站) closed exits H, G, M, N from start of service until traffic control ended near the start/finish.
Roads around the start (Gutian Road 五一中路至八一七路段, Bayiyi Road, Xinquan South Road, Guangda Road, side streets) closed to vehicles from midnight through race end —
plan to walk in from outside the closure zone.
Straits (Haixia) International Conference & Exhibition Center, South Gate (海峡会展中心南门)
Finish-area roads Huizhan West Road (会展西路) and Puxiazhou Road closed to all vehicle traffic from 7:30 AM until event end, per the 2025 edition municipal notice.
Instead, 141 regular city bus routes were temporarily rerouted and 4 routes (including metro-feeder lines 11 and 16) were suspended for the 2025 race day,
per the official Fuzhou municipal government notice.
Content labeled 'per prior edition' since day-level 2026 details weren't published;
plan to arrive well before area closures.
榕城通 (Rongchengtong / 'Rong City Pass')
Service outlets near Dongjiekou metro station, Mawei Qingzhou bus terminal, or Taijiang Plaza bus stop;
also via the 'e福州' app or '榕城通市民卡' WeChat mini-program
Not accepted at the gates — get the local card above
Alternative: Metro + Bus 3-Day Pass (地铁公交三日票) CNY 50 — Worth it if you'll take frequent metro/bus trips over 3 days (unlimited rides once activated);
not worth it for just a couple of trips to/from the race venue.
Fuzhou explicitly confirms foreign bank cards (Visa/Mastercard/JCB/Diners Club/Discover) can be bound directly in Alipay for metro/bus ride codes —
one of the more foreigner-friendly systems among Chinese cities.
Alipay also has a 'travel together' feature letting one phone/account scan up to 3 people through gates together.
Your start time, fuel and bag drop.
Know them ahead and the run feels easier.
In December, Fuzhou has an average high of 17.8°C and an average low of 10.9°C.
Average monthly rainfall is 43.3㎜, far below the 228.7㎜ recorded in June, so the race takes place during one of the year’s relatively cool and dry periods.
Because this is early winter, when temperatures vary between morning and evening,
bring a warm-up layer for before the start and prepare a light outfit that can be removed and checked during the race.
Times are local to Fuzhou. Check the latest official information before the race.
