At the Paavo Nurmi Marathon in Hurley, heat and dehydration slowed the runner on the late hills. Spectators helped lift the runner's spirits for a finish in 3 hours 39 minutes 32 seconds.

Getting to the start

Indian Trails intercity bus stop, 200 Silver St, Hurley, WI (same street as the shuttle pickup point)

Marathon/relay starts in the town of Upson on Hwy 77 (half marathon starts in Gile); all logistics are coordinated from the Iron Horse Trailhead at 5th Ave & Silver St in Hurley, where race-organized buses depart for the point-to-point start line. Hurley, WI sits directly across the Montreal River from Ironwood, MI, which also has Indian Trails service.

Finish line and Post Paavo Party are on Silver Street in downtown Hurley, WI, the same street as the Indian Trails bus stop.

Start shuttle

Organizer runs buses from the NW corner of 5th & Silver Streets, Hurley to the point-to-point start on Hwy 77; relay shuttles depart 6:00am and 6:15am race day.

Transit card

Hurley, WI is a small town in far-northern Wisconsin with no dedicated transit card system. Car access is the only practical way to reach the race.
