THE DREAM
Pardubice Wine half marathon is a 21.0975km half marathon held every April in Pardubice, a city in eastern Bohemia, Czechia.
The event has more than 40 years of history.
It began as a 25km road race between Pardubice and Chrudim,
held on May 9 under the name “Run for Liberation”, before being changed to the official half marathon distance.
Hotelier Oldřich Vujnoch became involved in organising the race in 2003, adding the “Wine” name,
and from 2007 it was redesigned as a city-centre race through Pardubice.
Since 2011, it has also served as the Czech half marathon national championships for men and women.
Alongside half marathon, the programme includes a 10km race, a 1.7km fun run and children’s athletics events.

Streets lined with cheers, runners all around.
You'll be part of that scene.
Take it slow with the finish still in you,
and meet the city all over again.
From the joy of finishing to the tough moments — read what runners wrote themselves.
“By the time I reached the finish, I was completely spent and had to sit down.”
Fatigue from the previous week's marathon caused muscle pain after 10km and back pain after 15km at the Pardubice Wine half marathon Marathon. After briefly walking and loosening up, the runner resumed and accelerated with others to finish in 1 hour 52 minutes 29 seconds.

V cíli jsem si musel sednout, jak jsem byl KO.

At the Pardubice Wine half marathon, the runner avoided starting too fast and held a steady rhythm. Although slowing later, the runner rallied on the final climb to finish in 1 hour 43 minutes 55 seconds.

Pardubice has an oceanic climate (Köppen Cfb), with an annual average temperature of 9.7°C.
Average temperatures range from -0.3°C in January to 19.8°C in July, so seasonal variation is moderate.
In April, daytime temperatures can reach the mid-teens Celsius, but mornings and evenings remain cool and rain is common;
a waterproof, windproof jacket is advisable.
Course is run mainly on flat urban asphalt, so elevation is not a major concern, but the out-and-back sections on the outskirts require careful pace management.
