THE DREAM
The 2026 Temple Run is a 6.3km marathon held on September 19, 2026 on the Gatbawi Wish Road in Gyeongsan, Gyeongbuk.
Picture the course in advance
and find the pace that fits you.
Streets lined with cheers, runners all around.
You'll be part of that scene.
Take it slow with the finish still in you,
and meet the city all over again.
From the joy of finishing to the tough moments — read what runners wrote themselves.
“In the end, I ran only about 2km and walked nearly all the rest.”
On the sustained climbs of the Gyeongsan Gatbawi Temple Run, the runner ran about 2km and walked most of the rest to complete 6.3km. Moving slowly through the forest while thinking about a wish, they felt proud to receive a finisher medal at Seonbonsa Temple.

Temple Run is a non-competitive trail event that connects running, walking, and temple culture on Gatbawi Sowongil in Gyeongsan, Gyeongsangbuk-do.
Instead of having participants start all at once and compete for ranking,
we planned to allow individuals or groups to freely start and complete at their own pace within the operating hours.
The organizers introduce the event as a cultural trail run that combines the Gatbawi Wish Fulfillment Festival and temple culture.
Course is about 6.3km and runs from Sangwonsa Temple to Seonbonsa Temple.
The front part is a running section, and the part after passing the checkpoint and entering Palgongsan National Park is a walking section.
The official directions clearly state that the entire route involves continuous uphill climbs.
It is difficult to explain the nature of course based on the length of the distance alone,
and the uphill road and walking section in the national park together create a complete experience.
Instead of running the previous section and continuing in the same way until the end, the method of movement changes at designated points.
The design of connecting the road to the temple in two ways is reflected in the name of the event, which combines trail run and walk.
We also provide information on wishing lantern hanging and temple stay, which can be requested separately, as additional programs.
It is an event that focuses on completion and cultural participation rather than running records,
so the journey connecting the temple and the mountain path itself is the core of the program.
The purpose of the temple run is revealed by using Gyeongsan’s Sowongil as a place where exercise and local culture meet.

The Packet Pickup format has not been announced, so check the official website.
No subway — take Gyeongsan/Daegu city bus route 803 or similar to the area near Gatbawi Parking Lot 3 (about a 700m walk from the bus stop)
Seonbonsa Temple
In the Gyeongsan/Daegu area, nationwide transit cards such as T-money are accepted on city buses.
Gatbawi services may run infrequently, so combining a private car with a taxi is recommended.
As course is mainly uphill, allow plenty of extra travel time.
Your start time, fuel and bag drop.
Know them ahead and the run feels easier.
On the day of the event,
the organizer will instruct you to park your car at the temporary parking lot in the Gyeongsan Knowledge Industrial District and use the shuttle bus.
There is a notice that congestion is expected at the Gatbawi Sowongil parking lot,
so it is better to plan a designated parking route rather than driving directly to the starting point.
Souvenirs are issued at the arrival location, so you should also consider what you will take with you on the return trip.
The official GPX file shows the starting point as the Sowongil parking lot, but the actual event starts from nearby Sangwon Temple.
Even if the file is stored in the device, priority must be given to the on-site course sign and guidance from operating personnel.
Regardless of whether or not a minor participant is accompanied by a guardian,
they must submit a consent form completed and signed by their legal representative to the on-site operation headquarters.
Temple Stay is a program that you apply for separately from the application process.
If you are planning an event and lodging together,
you can check whether to apply separately and schedule your route in the order of Packet Pickup after using the shuttle,
submitting on-site documents, and completing the race.
Times are local to Gyeongsan. Check the latest official information before the race.
