THE DREAM
20th Dalseo half marathon Run with your companion!
Picture the course in advance
and find the pace that fits you.
Streets lined with cheers, runners all around.
You'll be part of that scene.
Take it slow with the finish still in you,
and meet the city all over again.
From the joy of finishing to the tough moments — read what runners wrote themselves.
“Still, it was fun!”
The runner started out helping a friend with their pace at the Dalseo Half Marathon 10K, but ended up running separately. The runner's pace was disrupted while weaving through the runners ahead early on, but the runner wrote that the race was fun and that the food after finishing was satisfying.

At Dalseo Half Marathon, the runner overdid the warm-up and the early pace, so became exhausted after 10 km. The runner struggled through the section where they ran the same course twice and reflected on how they managed their pace.

The runner set off faster than planned from the Dalseo Half Marathon, ran out of energy after 16 km, and walked around 19–20 km. They experienced a flat two-lap course and smooth shuttle and bag-drop services, but noted that some aid stations had insufficient water and cups.

The Dalseo Half Marathon is organized and hosted by the Dalseo-gu Sports Council in Daegu, and it reaches its 20th edition on Sunday, October 4, 2026.
The start and finish are at Horim Gangnaru Park (Daecheon-dong, Dalseo-gu) inside the Seongseo Industrial Complex,
and there are three races: a half marathon certified by the Korea Association of Athletics Federations, a 10K and a 5K family fun run.
Registration opened on May 20 this year and every race sold out early, with a record 10,455 participants.
The half marathon starts at 8:30 a.m., passes Horim intersection (Moda Outlet) and Gaesangdeum intersection onto the riverside road,
then runs two laps of a loop with a first turnaround at Gangchang Bridge and a second in front of Taekyung Industrial,
via Damjeongwon and Daewon HMC, before returning to the park.
The 10K starts at 8:40, heads out toward Korea District Heating Corporation, runs along the riverside road and turns once at Gangchang Bridge.
The 5K starts at 8:50 and goes via Horim intersection, Wolseong Bridge and the Jebangmaru embankment to finish on the embankment across from Sanghorim Park,
passing the cosmos flower path at Dalseong Wetland on the way.
The time limit is 3 hours for the half marathon, 2 hours for the 10K and 1 hour for the 5K.
Drinks are served every 2.5km, and nutrition is handed out at 10K, 15K and 20K on the half marathon.
Timing is by shoe chip, so results are chip time, and your bib and souvenir are sent by courier to the address you entered at registration.
On race day the pre-race show and warm-up start at 7:30 a.m.,
followed by the opening ceremony at 8:10, and shuttle buses run every 15 minutes from 6 a.m. to 8:10 a.m. from Exit 3 of Daegok and Keimyung University stations on the Daegu Metro to Horim intersection.

The Dalseo Half Marathon is a half marathon, 10K and 5K held at Horim Gangnaru Park in Daecheon-dong, Dalseo-gu, Daegu.
The 20th edition takes place on October 4, 2026.
The previous edition started at around 8:30 a.m., and entries were accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
The previous race accepted around 10,000 participants, making it a major event in the Daegu area.
Allow plenty of time for arrival, as the area around the meeting point can be crowded.
Check the official website for the entry fee, race premiums—sports bags for the half marathon and 10K,
and a round-neck T-shirt for the 5K in the previous edition—and bib-pickup details.
In early October, Daegu typically has cool mornings and considerably warmer afternoons, with a wide temperature range.
A short-sleeve top is usually comfortable during the race, but a lightweight outer layer that you can remove and check before the start will be useful.
A hat or sunglasses can also help during the sunnier latter sections.
The course uses the wide asphalt roads of Seongseo Industrial Complex.
In the previous edition, the half marathon was run as two laps of a loop course along the riverside roads,
with turnarounds at places such as Gangchanggyo Bridge.
Because you repeat the same section, an even-pace strategy works well: learn the course on the first lap and race the second.
Slow down and accelerate carefully at the turnaround, and avoid forcing a pass immediately before it.
In the previous edition, the 5K course ran through the Daemyeong Reservoir ecological trail and the Dalseong Wetland area,
making it a relaxed option for families.
Times are local to Daegu. Check the latest official information before the race.
