The start and finish are both at MUFG Stadium, the Japan National Stadium.

Leaving the stadium in Kasumigaoka-machi, Shinjuku, the course passes through Tomihisa-cho and Suidobashi and continues to Jimbocho and Kanda.

The first turnaround point is at Nihonbashi and the second turnaround point by the river at Hitotsubashi.

It is an out-and-back route that retraces the same roads to the stadium.

This course is based on the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic marathon course announced in May 2018.

It combines elements of the 1964 Tokyo Olympic marathon course, the former Tokyo International Marathon and Tokyo International Women's Marathon course,

the current Tokyo Marathon course, and popular city running course.

The Tokyo Marathon Foundation launched the race in 2022 to open the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic marathon course to recreational runners.

It is a JAAF-certified, World Athletics-certified course.

Getting to the finish

Same as start — National Stadium (Toei Oedo Line Kokuritsu-Kyogijo Exit A2, or JR Sendagaya/Shinanomachi)

Road closures

Road and traffic closures around the course on race day; official notice posted

Suica / Pasmo (Welcome Suica or Tourist Pasmo for visitors)

JR East Travel Service Centers at Narita/Haneda airports, major JR station counters in Tokyo (Welcome Suica); Tourist Pasmo at airport counters; also available as a mobile card via Welcome Suica Mobile app (iPhone) Not accepted at the gates — get the local card above

Alternative: Tokyo Subway Ticket (24/48/72-hour) or Welcome Suica (28-day validity, no deposit) Welcome Suica: load ¥1,000-¥10,000; unused balance not refundable — Worth getting a Welcome Suica/Tourist Pasmo immediately on arrival if you're staying under a month. Welcome Suica is valid 28 days and cannot be refunded or extended. Suica, Pasmo, and Icoca are all interoperable across Japan's transit systems.

READY TO RUN

From race morning to after the finish.

Your start time, fuel and bag drop.
Know them ahead and the run feels easier.

The 2026 race is on Sunday, October 18.

The finishing time limit is 3 hours, from 8:05 to 11:05, and 1 hour 40 minutes for the Wheelchair Division.

Runner check-in (entry confirmation) takes place over two days before the race, October 16 and 17.

The stadium is easy to reach by public transport: a 5-minute walk from Sendagaya and Shinanomachi stations on the JR Sobu Line and a 1-minute walk from Kokuritsu-Kyogijo Station (Exit A2) on the Toei Oedo Line.

The course is out-and-back, so runners pass the same stretch twice near the Nihonbashi and Hitotsubashi turnaround point.
