The road to your own record
Picture the course in advance
and find the pace that fits you.

The city you want to run becomes your next trip.

THE DREAM
It is held in Cambodia's Angkor Archaeological Park.
It starts in front of Angkor Wat temple and returns to the same location.
Course passes among the temple complexes of Angkor, including Pre Rup, and is mostly flat paved roads.
Picture the course in advance
and find the pace that fits you.
Streets lined with cheers, runners all around.
You'll be part of that scene.
Take it slow with the finish still in you,
and meet the city all over again.
From the joy of finishing to the tough moments — read what runners wrote themselves.
“My pace dropped along the way, but it didn’t make a major difference, and I actually felt better toward the end and powered through the final finish.”
After returning from injury, the runner took part in the Angkor Empire Marathon full course and finished while enjoying the ruins and the crowd support despite the heat and uneven pacing.
Quoted from the original · translated
途中でペースは落ちたけど、そこまで大きく変わることなく、むしろ最後はテンションが上がって、元気にゴール。
Read the original on note“I loved this race and the people I met in Cambodia but this was a difficult experience for me.”The runner started the Angkor Empire Marathon before dawn but struggled with heat, humidity and traffic. The report still conveys affection for the race and the people met locally.
We translated a short line from each public race report and summarized the experience. Finish times are as stated by the author, and past editions may differ from this year's weather and operations.

RACE WEEK
Know the course and time limit, and race day comes into focus.
From the 2026 editionThe Angkor Empire Marathon is a road race that runs around the Angkor ruins in Siem Reap, Cambodia.
The center of the event is in front of Angkor Wat,
and the competition takes place along a route that connects ancient temples, forests, and village rice fields.
The organizers introduce it as course, where you can see traces of the old Khmer civilization and the current lifestyle of the residents.
The road is generally guided on a smooth surface, and instead of a mountain path, it runs along a path that connects around the ruins.
From the section overlooking the temple, you pass through the forest and move to the section with rice fields and traditional villages.
Unlike the traditional way of looking at ruins in one place for a long time, you get to see various landscapes in the flow of running.
Not only the old buildings of the Angkor region but also the surrounding nature and living spaces serve as the backdrop for the competition.
Full marathon, half marathon, 10km, and 3km events in which both children and adults can participate.
Accepting both professional and non-professional runners, domestic and international participants choose their own distance within the same landscape of Encore.
By combining long-distance races and short-distance participatory events,
the competition can be experienced in different ways depending on the participants' goals.
The hosting organization connects the purpose of the event to international friendship and activities supporting disabled and disadvantaged children in Cambodia.
It involves introducing historical sites through running and supporting people in need in the region.
It is a marathon that engraves traces of the Angkor civilization into the name of the race,
but also includes relationships with the people living here today as part of the purpose of the event.
Not yet confirmed in the official race guide
This may change for the next edition.
Pick up your bib, check your wave.
So on race morning, you can just run.

no rail/metro in Siem Reap — start/finish directly in front of Angkor Wat Temple, ~6km (~20-min tuk-tuk or taxi) from Siem Reap town center
The organizer is 'Cambodia Events Organizer' (cambodia-events.org), registration via kh.checkpointspot.asia/event/aem2026. NOTE: a separate, unrelated 'Angkor Wat International Half Marathon' also exists — a different race.
Siem Reap has no city bus network, transit card, or fare gates of any kind. Runners typically get around by tuk-tuk, moto-taxi, bicycle, or on foot.
Grab and PassApp allow in-app cashless payment, but most drivers still deal in cash (USD or Cambodian riel) negotiated directly.
Your start time, fuel and bag drop.
Know them ahead and the run feels easier.
The course is mostly flat and paved as it loops among the Angkor temples,
but Cambodia's heat and humidity can be intense, so runners should plan for an early start.
Times are local to Siem Reap. Check the latest official information before the race.
