“I was lucky just to take part. I'm especially grateful to Luwan Running Club and Running David for giving me a chance in the qualifying event.”

Xu Heping escaped the congestion in corral C at the 2024 Shanghai 10km Elite Race, but humidity and tight shoes caused their pace to drop after 3km. Xu crossed finish averaging 3 minutes 58 seconds per km, yet the extra distance run on course meant missing a certified sub-40-minute result; Xu still valued it as good training.

2026 Nexperia Shanghai Elite 10K Official course: Starts at Guangfu Road W., passes Zhenguang Road·Yunling Road E.·Daduhe Road·Zhenbei Road and ends inside Half-Marathon Suhe Park on Yunling Road E.

The Shanghai Elite 10K Race is a 10km road race held in Shanghai’s Putuo District.

It is co-organised by the Shanghai Marathon committee, which also stages the Shanghai Marathon, and is usually held in late October.

Its short distance and World Athletics Label Road Race status make it a speed-focused event.

Recent results have been dominated by Kenyan and Ethiopian runners.

In 2024, Kenya’s Patrick Mosin and Geoffrey Toroitich Kipchumba shared the men’s title in 28:37, while Kenya’s Judy Jelagat Kemboi won the women’s race in 31:17.

Participation was approximately 7,000 in 2024.

Getting to the start

Metro Line 2, Weining Road Station (威宁路站), Exit 4 — turn right onto the Weining Road bridge, cross the river, walk ~400m east along Guangfu West Road (also reachable via Line 15)

Start venue (per 2024/2025 editions) is the Banma Suhe ("Half-Marathon Suzhou River") International Convention Center at 光复西路2739号 (Guangfu West Road), Putuo District — confirm exact 2026 start venue closer to race day. Officially the 上海10公里精英赛, run under the Shanghai Marathon organization.

Metro Line 13, Zhenbeilu Station (真北路站)

Finish area at Yunling East Road, park on the southeast/northeast corner of the Zhenbei Road intersection (5A park = health-run finish, 6A park = 10K finish) — short walk from the metro station.

With only 10km to cover, the leaders’ pace is extremely fast.

Recent winning times in the men’s race have been in the 28-minute range and in the women’s race in the 31-minute range,

underlining how closely the event resembles a pure time trial.

Recreational runners should expect to race in a completely different flow from the elite field from the opening kilometres.

The race is co-organised by the Shanghai Marathon committee.

Entries and event information are available through the same portal as the Shanghai Marathon, static.shang-ma.com.

It is held in late October, roughly a month before the Shanghai Marathon, which takes place each November.
