Lake Hamana Marathon is a local event in Kosai, Shizuoka Prefecture, where you run with views of Lake Hamana and the Enshu-nada Sea.
The lake and sea are the first scenery highlighted by the organisers in their introduction to the event.
The course incorporates the waterfront landscape and presents the city alongside Kosai’s local specialities.
The races take place on roads around Boat Race Hamana-ko.
Using the same waterfront area as its focus while varying the distance by event,
the race welcomes everyone from adults running longer distances to children running shorter ones.
The programme includes 10 km, 5 km, 3 km and a 1.5 km parent-and-child event.
Although “marathon” appears in the event name, the published programme consists of these relatively short distances.
In the parent-and-child division, an elementary-school child and a guardian run as a team.
Grandparents are also included among eligible guardians, allowing multiple generations to take part together.
The 3 km race is open from elementary-school age through adulthood,
while the 5 km race has divisions for middle-school students and participants in high school and above.
Combining a family run with age-group races gives the event its character as a local community sports event.
The event is organised by the Hamana-ko Marathon Executive Committee and the Kosai City Sports Association.
It connects a run with waterfront views to local community participation,
while the lake and sea forming the backdrop of course remain key elements used to describe the event even in the shorter races.
Pick up your bib, check your wave.
So on race morning, you can just run.
Details on registration and athlete bibs could not be confirmed in the publicly available information.
Since advance mailing or same-day collection is common for races in Japan, check the event guide (participant notification).

If you arrive based only on your own start time, you may miss the registration deadline.
Baggage storage is free, but capacity is limited and valuables are not accepted.
