Submit a preliminary application via the official website or the Shanghai Marathon app, followed by a computerised lottery.

Only successful applicants can confirm their entry by paying the Entry fee fee.

Starting at the Oriental Pearl Tower, the route passes Nanpu Bridge,

Expo Avenue and Qiantan Park in Pudong before reaching the Shanghai Oriental Sports Center, where runners pass through finish.

With wide avenues and long straight sections, it is considered a flat, fast, time-focused course.

Getting to the start

Lujiazui area — nearest metro Lujiazui Station (Line 2)

The old shanghaimarathon.com domain is dead. Per the 2025 edition (SPDB Shanghai Half Marathon, 20 Apr): start at the Oriental Pearl Tower, Fenghe Road (丰和路), Lujiazui, Pudong.

NOTE: this Half Marathon (Pudong, ~March/April) is a distinct event from the full 'Shanghai Marathon' (November, at the Bund).

Works directly at the gates Visa's 'Tap to Ride' program expanded from the Maglev pilot to the full Shanghai Metro network on June 28, 2025. Contactless bank cards are NOT yet accepted on Shanghai buses, trams, or ferries — for those, use the physical transport card or WeChat Pay/Alipay QR.
