The city you want to run becomes your next trip.
THE DREAM
It is considered one of the toughest races in Hong Kong below 100 miles.
Distances are 50/50, 50 miles, 50km and 25km, crossing the ridgelines of the Kowloon mountain range.
The event takes place over two days, 27 and 28 February 2027.
Picture the course in advance
and find the pace that fits you.
Streets lined with cheers, runners all around.
You'll be part of that scene.
Take it slow with the finish still in you,
and meet the city all over again.
From the joy of finishing to the tough moments — read what runners wrote themselves.
“The 9 Dragons Ultra was by far the hardest race we’ve done so far.”In the Nine Dragons 50-mile race, they endured a companion’s fall and breathing trouble late in the race to finish in 18 hours 35 minutes. They skipped the next day’s planned 50km so the companion could recover from injury.
“We prepared, we ran within ourselves, and we all completed our events.”At the Hong Kong Nine Dragons 50km, endless climbs, stairs, and tricky footing made the race difficult. In hot, humid weather, the runner was caught in rain and fell, but got back up and continued to meet running friends at the finish.
We translated a short line from each public race report and summarized the experience. Finish times are as stated by the author, and past editions may differ from this year's weather and operations.

There is a legend that the name Kowloon originated from the nine peaks that extend north of Hong Kong city.
When Bing, the last emperor of the Southern Song Dynasty,
saw the eight peaks of this area and tried to name them 'Eight Dragons,' a subject remarked that the emperor himself was a dragon and that there were actually nine peaks,
and from then on, this mountain range came to be called Nine Dragons.
The 9 Dragons is a trail race that passes through these legendary ridges —
Kowloon Peak, Tung Shan, Tate's Cairn, Temple Hill, Unicorn Ridge, Lion Rock, Beacon Hill, and Crow's Nest.
The race is divided into four stages: 25km, 50km, 50 miles, and a '50/50' stage race,
which is run over two consecutive days - 50 miles on Saturday and 50 km on Sunday.
The 50-mile race is known to have a distance of 84.7km and a cumulative altitude of about 4,638m, starting at midnight and traversing the Kowloon Ridge.
If you complete the 50/50, you will climb about 146km and an altitude of more than 9,300m in two days.
It is said that the Hong Kong mountain running community often considers this event to be the most rigorous event under 100 miles.
Nine Dragons is a round of the Asia Trail Master championship series, and is said to feature many of the top trail runners in Asia.
Pick up your bib, check your wave.
So on race morning, you can just run.
Start is at Tai Lam (Tai Lam Country Park), New Territories, Hong Kong — not directly at an MTR station. Organizer coaches run from Regal Riverside Hotel (Shatin) and city pickup points at Prince Edward and Admiralty MTR stations to the start for the 50 Miles and 50km races. No dedicated coach to start for the 25km and Kids Race (self-arranged transport).
MTR stations Prince Edward and Admiralty serve as coach pickup points, not walk-to-start stations. Event spans 2027-02-27 to 2027-02-28 (multi-day ultra weekend: 50/50, 50 Miles, 50km, 25km, Kids Race all listed as running across both dates).
This entry (2027-02-27) is the Saturday leg of the same multi-day event as the 2027-02-28 entry; could not isolate which specific distance corresponds only to this date from official pages.
Finish is at Shing Fung Studios. Tai Wo Station (East Rail Line) is within walking distance of the 50 Miles finish; Hang Hau Station is reached via finish coach for 50km, 25km and Kids Race finishers.
Finish shuttle coach to Hang Hau MTR station; pre-book at registration (recommended) or pay at finish, flat fee (~HKD 100 per prior-edition source).
Yes — start coaches (Regal Riverside Hotel Shatin, Prince Edward MTR, Admiralty MTR) for 50 Miles/50km; finish coach to Hang Hau MTR for 50km/25km/Kids Race.
Your start time, fuel and bag drop.
Know them ahead and the run feels easier.
The 50-mile category is said to have a 24-hour time limit, and course is said to feature 7 aid station points.
The stage race 50/50 covers 50 miles on Saturday and 50 km on Sunday over two days, so pacing and recovery planning are important.
For registration and the latest race information, it is best to check the official website,
and details such as Entry fee, field size, and time limit may change each season.
Times are local to Hong Kong. Check the latest official information before the race.
