THE DREAM
The Paraguay 10km Road Running Championships are held as part of the Maratón Internacional de Asunción.
Each August, the race starts at Asunción's Costanera and follows a course along the Paraguay River.
It forms part of an event programme recognized by World Athletics and AIMS, alongside the 42km full marathon and 21km half marathon.
Launched in 2010, the event has a 17-year history, more than 60,000 cumulative participants and over 600km in cumulative finisher distance.

RACE WEEK
Know the course and time limit, and race day comes into focus.
From the 2026 editionThe race starts at 5:30 a.m. on August 30, 2026, at Asunción Costanera.
Costanera is a riverside promenade along the Paraguay River and serves as the start and finish for the full marathon and half marathon.
The 42km course completes two laps of this loop, while the 21km course completes one.
Both include the climb of approximately 3km from the riverside lowlands toward the city center, around the La Encarnación and Las Mercedes districts.
The 10km course uses part of the loop, starting by the river before heading along the city's main avenues and returning to Costanera.
The official website does not list separate time limit for each distance.

Pick up your bib, check your wave.
So on race morning, you can just run.
No metro/train system in Asunción; city bus lines run along the Costanera avenue but organizers do not specify an exact stop
Start/finish is at the Muelle Deportivo (Sports Dock) on the Costanera de Asunción.
No rail transit;
several municipal bus routes run along Av.
Costanera near the venue.
Same as start — Muelle Deportivo, Costanera de Asunción.
10km race start time listed as 06:15.
None specified by organizers.
Asuncion city buses are cashless, requiring a rechargeable Jaha or Mas smart card (about 25,000 PYG, roughly $3.80) sold at Aqui Pago,
Pago Express, or Biggie convenience stores;
visiting runners' foreign bank cards do not work directly on board.
Regular non-AC rides cost around 2,300 PYG and AC diferencial buses about 3,400 PYG.
Since the race starts at the Costanera de Asuncion, taxis or a rideshare app are simpler for race day than sourcing a transit card.
Your start time, fuel and bag drop.
Know them ahead and the run feels easier.
August is winter in Asunción, in the Southern Hemisphere.
Under the Köppen climate classification, the city has a humid subtropical climate;
average winter temperatures are around 17°C, making this the coolest and driest time of year.
Relative humidity, however, remains high at around 70% year-round, so early starters may still encounter humid air.
Course is mostly a flat section of Costanera, a riverside promenade along the Paraguay River,
but a gradual climb continues for about 3km as the course rises from the river toward the city center.
The start and finish at Costanera are relatively close to central Asunción, making access straightforward.
Times are local to Asunción. Check the latest official information before the race.
