Race reports: 2
Berlin BoundFinish time 7:23:20
“I was amazed by the variety of trail conditions.”

At the Gorge Waterfalls 50km, the runner attempted an ultra for the first time. Forests, rocks, and steep climbs made it painful, but it remained a special running experience.

Abu Halen
“I finished in a little over 7.5 hours and felt really strong.”

At Gorge Waterfalls 50K, the runner walked the steep opening climb, passed waterfalls, and chatted with others. Still feeling strong late on, they accelerated and finished in just over 7 hours 30 minutes.

We translated a short line from each public race report and summarized the experience. Finish times are as stated by the author, and past editions may differ from this year's weather and operations.

More details

Getting to the start

100K starts at Marine Park, Cascade Locks, OR (35–40 minutes east of Portland by car); 30K and 50K start at Wahkeena Day Use Area (accessible only via the race shuttle from Marine Park)

No public transit; the nearest major hub is Portland. The Marine Park entrance has a 12'0" vehicle clearance limit under a railroad trestle, so tall vehicles must avoid it.

Marine Park charges a $10/day vehicle parking fee; free parking is also available along Wa Na Pa Street in Cascade Locks. Race dates span April 16–18, 2027

A 06:00 shuttle runs from Marine Park to the 50K and 30K start at Multnomah Falls. The shuttle is optional and must be purchased separately.

Parking at Marine Park costs $10 per vehicle per day.

Getting to the finish

Marine Park, Cascade Locks, OR — all distances (30K/50K/100K) finish here

Start shuttle

Yes, official race-provided shuttle buses are available: for the 30K and 50K, buses depart Marine Park for the Wahkeena Day Use Area start point, and “ALL runners must ride buses, no drop-offs.” The 100K starts directly at Marine Park, so no shuttle is needed for that distance.

IC card

No dedicated transit card system for Cascade Locks, OR, in the Columbia River Gorge; there is no rail or frequent bus service to the start area, which is reached via I-84. Rental car or rideshare from Portland (about 45 minutes) is the practical option.

Gorge Waterfalls is a trail race sponsored by All Conditions Gear, starting in Cascade Locks,

Oregon, and traversing the Columbia River Gorge across three distances: 100K, 50K, and 30K.

The field is capped at 450 participants per day, and the popular race is known to sell out quickly as soon as registration opens each year.

The 100K is recognized as a qualifying course for the 2027 Western States 100-Mile Endurance Run, with a sub-17-hour finish required for qualification.

Based on the previous year, the start times were 30K at 10:00 a.m. Friday, 100K at 5:00 a.m. Saturday, and 50K at 8:00 a.m. Sunday.

Time limit was set at a total of 6 hours for the 30K, based on the final wave start, and 9 hours for the 50K.

Entry fee for the 2027 race is listed at approximately $140–155 for the 30K, $190–205 for the 50K,

and $270–290 for the 100K, depending on the early-bird or regular registration period.

Registration is handled through UltraSignup.

The aid stations are generally well stocked,

and a distinctive feature of the race is the mandatory use of shoe brushes at check-in to prevent the spread of invasive seeds.

Times are local to Cascade Locks. Check the latest official information before the race.
